2020 Dynasty QB Rankings 26-44 (Post Combine)

Here, I have listed for you my secondary options for dynasty QB. This list includes rookies that can bust onto the scene. Also, listed some of the better backups in the league will compete for the starting job in 2020. There is a great chance that a QB in this list will finish higher than what they are ranked. In the last two seasons, we have seen two QBs that weren’t highly touted to finish as the QB 1 in fantasy. In a dynasty league, all of these QBs listed should be on a roster. If any of these guys are on your waiver, pick them up and wait to see how things will shape out. QB is very important in dynasty leagues as they can be traded for great position players, while it is also difficult to win if you lack in the QB department.

Check out my 2020 Dynasty RB Rankings: 70-61; 60-51; 50-41; 40-31; 30-21; 20-11; 10-1

Starting March 4th, I will break down my Top 80 Dynasty WR– starting with 80-71

44. Jarrett Stidham

It appears that the Patriots may move on from Tom Brady in 2020. The Patriots may look to bring in a QB in the draft. However, Stidham will be the next guy up if Brady leaves town. The 2nd-year QB out of Auburn may take the reins in an offense that lacks some offensive pieces. Julian Edelman and Mohamed Sanu will help whatever QB will run the offense next year. The Patriots will continue to find pieces to help their offense. A healthy helping of Sony Michel and James White will help settle the nerves for Stidham. Stidham is worth a grab in dynasty leagues as New England is preparing for QB change whether this year or next.

43. Anthony Gordon

Anthony Gordon was the leader in passing yards in Division 1 football in 2019. At Washington State under Mike Leach, he was pure gun-slinger. I do believe Gordon has what it takes to be a QB in this league. He won’t get many looks until the fifth round. However, I think many teams should take a chance on him. I would love the Chicago Bears to take the leap. He could help teams with his pure arm talent and ability to light up the scoreboard. In rookie drafts, I would take him in the fourth or fifth round of rookie drafts and hold on to him as he has the tangibles to compete for a starting job somewhere.

42. Marcus Mariota

Mariota was replaced by Tannehill about midseason and soon became an afterthought for the Titans. I would assume that Tannehill will be the QB for the Titans going forward. Mariota is known for his use of his legs to extend plays but lacks the play-maker ability and pure accuracy. I believe Mariota will get some interest to compete with other QB in markets such as New England, Tampa Bay, and Chicago. Mariota may be worth a stash in deep dynasty leagues as plug-and-play QB aren’t as likely. Mariota will be left on waivers on most dynasty leagues and may be worth it if roster space permitting.

41. Ryan Fitzpatrick

Ryan Fitzpatrick is the old man at the bar that just keeps hanging around, he knows its time to go but doesn’t want to leave yet. Fitz “Magic” is entering his 16th season in the NFL and his days are limited as the 37-year-old QB is slowing down. His value in a dynasty isn’t as promising as the Dolphins are projected to select Tua with their fifth pick. Ryan will end up on a different team or see glimpses of game time due to the “trial and error” approach lower level teams implement. In 2019, Ryan won many teams in their fantasy championship after dropping 38 fantasy points. Although Fitzpatrick won’t win many games, his potential blow-up games are worth tracking in dynasty leagues.

40. Jacob Eason

Jacob Eason had a rocky collegiate career after suffering a knee injury at UGA. He lost his starting job to Fromm which made Eason hit the transfer portal. Eason then took his talent to his home state Washington. Eason finished his Junior year with 23 TD, 8 INT, and 3132 passing yards. Many scouts believe Eason has all the tangible tools to be a great QB, but he lacks leadership qualities that don’t sit well in the NFL; an example would be Josh Rosen. However, with all this being said, Eason is still predicted to be a first-round QB. If a solid structured franchise, such as the Patriots or Saints selects him; Eason would learn under some of the best coaches who can work him into a franchise guy. For dynasty value post-combine, Eason is a deep QB stash for now.

39. Jacoby Brissett

Jacoby was hot out the gate in 2019 after his first six games throwing 14 TD and 3 INT. The remaining nine games that he played in he threw for four TD and three INT. The knee injury he suffered during the Steelers game in Week 8 limited his play for the rest of the season. People may ask why is he so low on my rankings. The reason is that I expect Brissett to have a mediocre 2020 season and for the Colts to move on from him the following year. Frank Reich, who is an underrated head coach, will find his franchise quarterback that once was Andrew Luck. I think the Colts will be in contention to select Trevor Lawrence in the 2021 NFL Draft. Brissett doesn’t provide much for us fantasy owners and would be a waste of pick in dynasty leagues.

38. Andy Dalton

Dalton was benched in Week 9 and returned later in the season to be the Bengal’s starter again. Bengals hold the first overall pick in the draft and there is a good chance they take their next franchise QB in Joe Burrow. Dalton may go somewhere to be a backup. Barring injury in front of him, it is unlikely Dalton will ever be a starter again. Dalton will be a good backup for teams and can step in if the starter gets injured. He will remain under contract with the Bengals in 2020 and should mentor Joe Burrow. The Bears have inquired about Dalton to bring competition to Trubisky, however, I still don’t think Dalton will be very fantasy relevant. Dalton shouldn’t be in consideration to be drafted in dynasty leagues.

37. Gardner Minshew

Did the mustache lose all the power? Minshew took over as the starting QB after Foles got hurt in Week 1. Minshew never produced many fantasy relevant weeks. There is uncertainty on who will be the QB for the Jaguars in 2020. If Minshew is the starter in 2020, he will bring his confidence and swagger. Gardner is a great team player and was known for being a great leader at Washington State. Minshew helped D.J. Chark rise to fantasy stardom. I wouldn’t put much faith in the second-year QB out of Wazzu unless it is more clear who the starter will be in Jacksonville.

36. Tyrod Taylor

Philip Rivers will be leaving town and the remaining QB on the Chargers roster are Tyrod Taylor and Easton Stick. I believe the Chargers will give Taylor the reins in 2020 and see what he can do with it. This wouldn’t be a bad approach for the Chargers as Taylor still has some good years in him. Taylor did bring the Bills to the playoffs just a few years ago. I don’t think Stick will contend for the starting job in 2020, and the Chargers will have to look to bolster their horrendous offensive line. Taylor should be owned in every dynasty league as we wait to see what the Chargers will do at the QB position. I would also consider Stick rosterable as things shape out.

35. Jordan Love

Jordan Love is an incoming rookie out of Utah State. He is projected to be a first-round pick and either the third or fourth QB off the board. Love had an impressive 2018 season at Utah State throwing for 3,567 with a 32/6 TD/INT ratio. These numbers are great for Love, but this past Fall Love took a dip in stats. 2019 he finished with 3402 yards and 20/17 TD/INT.

Scouts claim that Love lost a lot of talent throughout those years which resulted in a negative 2019 season. The hope for him in the NFL is too use his rocket arm and playmaking ability, similar to Patrick Mahomes, to extend drives. I am not comparing these two QB’s talent, I am saying the style of play is most comparable to Mahomes. If Love can fall to the right system and coaches, he can be an excellent sleeper candidate for dynasty teams.

34. Jake Fromm

Looking just at Fromm’s stats is a mistake. Digging deeper into Fromm’s tape makes me excited about what this kid can bring to the league. Fromm has a natural feel in the pocket which helps him because he has an accurate arm with good ball placement. Fromm holds the school record at Georgia for the highest completion percentage. Sean Payton will take a good look at Fromm this offseason. He would be a perfect fit as a back-up behind Brees. Brees will be very helpful for Fromm’s development. Saints will most likely lose Teddy in free agency and Hill may request more money than the Saints want to give him. Fromm will be available in the third to the fourth round in rookie drafts.

33. Tom Brady

There is no question of the career that Brady has had. Brady and the Patriots were knocked out of the 2019 playoffs by the Titans and their offense never seemed to get it going all in 2019. Edelman was banged up with a multitude of injuries all season and after acquiring Mohamed Sanu from the Falcons there still wasn’t much to be excited about from the Patriots’ offense.

Brady will be 43 before the start of next season and currently isn’t under contract with New England. It now seems that Brady will be on a different team in 2020. I would love to see him and his play style in Las Vegas. Gruden is known for his great QB mind. What can he do with one of the best QB of all time? Still, at his age, he most likely has at best four seasons left in him. Youth is what you want to target in dynasty drafts. Brady will go down as one of the best QBs of all time but, he isn’t a target for me in dynasty drafts.

32. Dwayne Haskins

Haskins was a first-round pick by the Washington Redskins and he didn’t make an immediate impact right away. He got his first career start during Week 11 of the regular season and threw the ball for 144 yards. Haskins was hardly relevant throughout his remaining games and people didn’t bother to put him in their lineup. The expectations for the Redskins should be higher with the signing of Riverboat Ron and Jack Del Rio, but on the offensive side of the ball, the Redskins are dealing with a lack of weapons and bad chemistry with their linemen. Haskins should be viewed as a mid to low QB2 until proven otherwise

31. Mitchell Trubisky

2019 was a step back for Mitchell Trubisky. After a solid 2018 season, Bear’s fans were hopeful for their young quarterback to take the next step. Trubisky had a 40.6 QBR in 2019. However, Trubisky did find a favorite target in 2019. Allen Robinson was the only positive thing for the Bears this year. He took advantage of the small opportunity presented. Robinson finished the year with 98-1147-7. Robinson caught 40 percent of Trubisky’s TD in 2019. The only problem is that Trubsiky only threw for 17 TD. 2020 is the year that Trubisky must prove himself worthy of being a starting QB in this league. If not, the Bears may be looking for a new field general in 2021.

30. Justin Herbert

Herbert and the Oregon Ducks played in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day. He played great despite his team being down most of the game. Showing off his legs he ran for three rushing TDs as they went on to beat the Wisconsin Badgers. His pure arm talent, ability to read defenses and his athleticism will make him a top 10 pick. Will the Chargers pick him to take over for Rivers?

The Chargers have three picks within the top 75 selections. I believe they will use one of them to replace Rivers by selecting Justin Hebert. Herbert would be welcomed by one of the best route runners in the league, Keenan Allen. Although, Chargers do have young talent that can catch the ball such as Mike Williams, Hunter Henry, and a sneaky pass catcher of the backfield, Austin Ekeler. Justin Herbert would be a top dynasty value for me if he lands on the Chargers.

29. Nick Foles

Foles signed a four-year $88 million contract last season and the money didn’t live up to the hype. He broke his collarbone the first game of the year against KC and didn’t return until December 1st. Unfortunately for Foles, his backup did just fine in the time he missed and when Foles did play he didn’t “wow” the team. Looking forward to the 2020 season the Week 1 starter is in the air. Doug Marrone won’t have a definite answer until the preseason, which might affect fantasy drafts. Foles should be on your dynasty roster as we wait and see who will be under center for the Jaguars in 2020.

28. Derek Carr

It seemed that Gruden had brought in a new fancy target for Carr to flourish with. There is too much to talk about the off-field problems that Antonio Brown has. Nonetheless, Brown was out of Oakland not very long after. Carr is a huge question mark in terms of what he can be in this league. He has loved throwing to his TE as we saw one of Jared Cook‘s best years in 2018 and 2019 we saw Darren Waller become a top-five fantasy TE.

Carr is 28 years old and you have to believe he will continue to be Oakland’s starting QB next year. Gruden will continue to push to bring better pass catchers to the Raiders. Carr holds more value in a SuperFlex or 2-QB league. Carr as a late-round target may pay off if people are willing to take the risk. Will the Raiders bring in Brady? If so, I can see the Raiders dumping Carr to the Bears or Chargers. Both teams need a QB and Carr should be able to start day one on either team. Carr would provide an extra bump to Keenan Allen or Allen Robinson depending on what team he may get traded too.

27. Teddy Bridgewater

Teddy B was a first-round pick out of Louisville and was expected to be the franchise quarterback for the Vikings. His first two years were mediocre and never passed over 15 TDs. After a couple of seasons of being the backup quarterback for the Vikings and Saints, he finally got his chance to shine in 2019. After Drew Brees injured his hand and was out five weeks, Teddy stepped in and went 5-0. He had a 9-2 TD/INT split with 1384 yards. Now Teddy is a UFA and is supposed to be a starter for a new team. The best landing spots for him would be the Colts, Buccaneers, Chargers, and Patriots. Teddy should be viewed as a streaming QB in 2020.

26. Cam Newton

Newton suffered a foot injury in Week 2 that landed him on the IR for the rest of the season. There is much belief that the Panthers will look to start over in the QB department under new head coach Matt Rhule. Newton was the 2015 NFL MVP. When you think about it, that’s over five years ago, and what has he done since? Newton finished as the QB2 in 2017 and the QB12 in 2018. Newton is 30 years old and his style of play doesn’t help.

He is a big physical runner and takes more hits than needed which have shown the last two seasons as he has been banged up with injuries. Newton’s accuracy is questionable as well. I don’t see Newton being a Panther next season, however, depending on where he lands there may be hope that he can return to his former self. Be cautious with Newton because of the uncertainty of where he will land and his nagging injury history. Matt Rhule does want Cam in town. Whether to believe this is just a stunt to boost his trade value or that he will be the Panthers starting QB in 2020, be careful about where you are drafting Newton in dynasty leagues.
