2020 First Round Mock: Part Two

With the 2020 NFL Draft fast approaching, four Belly Up Fantasy Sports contributing writers sat down to mock their picks for the first round. An order was randomly determined, with Nate Herman picking first, Kye Potter second, Christopher Pinto third, and Craig Talley fourth, and continuing in that order. The goal was to realistically pick for team needs and look at the fantasy impact incoming rookies may have this upcoming season. This edition contains picks 20-11. Check back tomorrow at 9 AM eastern for the rest of the 2020 first-round mock draft!

2020 First Round Mock – Picks 20-11

11. New York Jets – WR CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma

CeeDee Lamb 2020 First Round Mock

Chris: The Jets need a stud wide receiver to take the pressure off of Le’Veon Bell and Lamb is my number one playmaker in the class. Lamb can do it all, contested catches, acrobatic catches, back-shoulder catches, and his route tree is phenomenal. He breaks tackles and is a monster in terms of yards after the catch, he will be a quarterbacks’ best friend.

I think he ends up somewhere more sinful, but will be a great addition to any team. He brings a special talent to the field and will be taken in the first round of many rookie drafts. I think he will be a WR2/3 by the start of the season.

12. Las Vegas Raiders – CB C.J. Henderson, Florida

Craig: In a division with Patrick Mahomes, can you blame the Raiders for drafting speed for their defensive backfield?  Nope, you can’t. Let’s be honest, Mike Mayock killed it in last year’s draft and this selection continues it for this year.  C.J. has great footwork, agility, and a burst that won’t allow a receiver any separation. The Raider defense keeps getting better.

13. San Fransisco 49ers – WR Henry Ruggs, III, Alabama

Nate: With Emmanuel Sanders leaving for New Orleans, the 49ers lack a deep threat. Henry Ruggs, III is an electric, flashy, wide receiver. Ruggs ran a 4.27 in the 40-yard dash, giving Jimmy Garoppolo a deep option in the passing game. Ruggs adds another dimension to the 49ers offense with his blazing speed, which makes the 49ers offense even more dangerous.

14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – OT Mekhi Becton, Louisville

Kye: Becton is a little more raw of a prospect than I want to block for Tom Brady’s blindside, but anything helps. The Buccaneers need a running back they can rely on, but 14 is just too early to take one here. While there are a lot of solid tackle prospects at the top of this draft, once they are gone it thins out quite a bit. The Bucs pull the trigger and get help here.

15. Denver Broncos – WR Jerry Jeudy, Alabama

Jerry Jeudy 2020 first round mock

Chris: After years of stability at wide receiver, the Broncos trade of both Demariyus Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders has created an unfamiliar weakness at the position.. Jeudy’s hands are impeccable and he is arguably the best route runner in the class. Jerry Jeudy will be a day one starter for the Denver offense. Jeudy is my second-ranked WR out of this class.

I believe Jeudy will end up on a more run-heavy team, but he will make an instant impact on whichever team that selects him. He should be taken in the first round of all rookie drafts. I think Jerry Jeudy will be a WR2/3 by the start of the season.

16. Atlanta Falcons – EDGE A.J. Epenesa, Iowa

Craig: In real life, I believe the Falcons will work hard to trade up, likely with Jacksonville so they can get C.J. Henderson, but, in our mock, we’re holding position, so the Falcons fill a very large need with Epenesa.  A strong, skilled rusher with good hands, matching AJ with Dante Fowler will torment the strong quarterbacks that find their home in the NFC South.

17. Dallas Cowboys – EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson, LSU

K'Lavon Chaisson

Nate: By drafting K’Lavon Chaisson, the Cowboys have two dominant edge rushers. DeMarcus Lawrence and K’Lavon Chaisson will cause chaos in their opponents backfield. NFC East quarterbacks have to be aware of these two pass rushers, as they can change the game in a blink of an eye.

18. Miami Dolphins – OT Austin Jackson, USC

Kye: You get a tackle, and you get a tackle! And you get a tackle! Nate mocked a quarterback (stay tuned) to the Dolphins at five, and a lot of the team’s weapons will depend on whether he starts out of the gate or we see one more Fitzmagic show. Whoever is taking the snaps, the Dolphins need help keeping them upright after trading Laremy Tunsil last year.

19. Las Vegas Raiders – WR Justin Jefferson, LSU

Chris: The Raiders need help across the board and wide receiver is a must fill position. With the likes of Lamb and Jeudy off the board, Jefferson was my next man up. He has caught 91% of his targets and has a crazy catch radius, which he will have to utilize as Derek Carr throws him the ball. He will be an instant success in the Raiders offense. Jefferson is in my top eight of pro-ready wideouts. Jefferson should be off the board by the third round of rookie drafts and you can expect him to be a WR3/4.

20. Jacksonville Jaguars – LB Kenneth Murray, Oklahoma

Kenneth Murray 2020 first round mock

Craig: With Calais Campbell and Marcell Dareus already gone with Yannick Ngakoue on his way out, the Jaguars have to rebuild on the defensive side of the ball and do it NOW!  Murray brings speed and the ability to fly sideline to sideline to pursue any play to help fill the gaps created by the offseason.
