Howdy, y’all, Christopher Pinto here, Lead Fantasy Football Writer and Analyst for Belly Up Fantasy Sports, today I will take you through the moves the Jags have taken this offseason, after that their draft needs, and lastly let you know how that affects your fantasy football season.
First off the Jacksonville Jaguars have had a mostly quiet off-season, including a trade that surprised some throughout the league. Sending the veteran play-caller from the Jaguars to the Bears. Because, of this, fan bases have been switching sides and buying new jerseys as well as notable players on the roster speaking out in the aftermath. Though the Jags finished last in the division, they have massive expectations for this rebuilding year.
In short, there are many questions left to be answered, for example who is going to run the ball handed off by Minshew and how are the holes in the roster going to be filled. The 6-10 Jacksonville Jaguars look to draft day to silence the naysayers and we at Belly Up Fantasy Sports will tell you how their roster correlates with the Fantasy Football landscape.

Draft needs:
This offseason has been an extremely smooth one for the Jaguars organization, because of the start of their 2019 campaign they had to think quickly at the quarterback position. They have quietly shuffled their roster and made some key moves to tell us how 2020 will be run. The Jags needs lay in the offense side of the ball as well as a defensive tackle. Because Minshew needs protection to keep defenses away from not only him, but the running back as well. In summation, in my eyes the Jags need an offensive tackle and a new quarterback. Lastly they need to sure up their veteran defense with a big run stopper. For instance, here are some noteworthy players the Jaguars may target:
- Andrew Thomas, OL, Georgia
- Mekhi Becton, OL, Louisville
- Josh Jones, OL, Houston
- Jacob Eason, QB, Washington
- Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma
- Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia
- Marlon Davidson, DL, Auburn
- Justin Madubulke, DL, Texas A&M
- Jordan Elliott, DL, Missouri
Fantasy Implications:
The fantasy landscape for the Jaguars is not deep. Gardner Minshew, Leonard Fournette, D.J. Chark Jr., Dede Westbrook, and Tyler Eifert are the only guys you could entertain and that is even a stretch. First, the Jags have one the highest volume rushing attacks in the game and they added depth this off-season. Second, they signed defensive players and a new safety net for the young quarterback. In summary the Jags will run the ball this season and look to take a step up in their passing game.
Quarterback:
The world fell in love with Minshew Mania last season, the likable Gardner Minshew won games and fans hearts. That being said I would not trust him as a solid starter in single QB leagues. He will have some good games throughout the season, but as of right now there is too much uncertainty. In conclusion, Minshew will be a streaming option and a regular QB 3 with upside.
Running Back:
Leonard Fournette is an animal and a top running back if given the right situation. There have been a lot of rumors circling the Jags ball carrier the past few days. He may not be a Jag when the season kicks off. Because of his circumstance the draft will be very telling as to Fournette’s future with the organization. That being said, he is a good running back who can carry the workload. He has shown flashes of greatness, but in a young offense he is usually the focal point of defenses. Because of this Fournette will be a middle of pack RB 2 with high upside.
Wide Receivers:
D.J. Chark Jr. exploded on the scene and won many leagues. He is a speedster with a huge frame, coupled with the affinity of his quarterback Chark Jr. looks to build off of last season. Because, of the young quarterback you can label Chark Jr. as a WR 3 with great upside.
Dede Westbrook is a household name in the fantasy world. He had some good seasons and served managers well. These days he is no more than a dart throw in daily leagues. Mark Dede down as a WR 4.
Tight End:
The Jags Tight End situation is a microcosm of the entire league. They have four guys on their roster none of with you can bank on. Newly signed pass-catcher Tyler Eifert has been injured for the past few seasons and looks to make a new start in Jacksonville. He once was a top tight end option but has since fallen. Because of this mark Eifert down as a TE 2.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the Jaguars sit at the bottom of the AFC South and have few fantasy weapons. The likes of Minshew, Fournette, Chark Jr., Westbrook, and Eifert will be owned in most leagues and you will be able to dart throw them up on a weekly bases. Next, we can take to the bank that the Jags running game will be one of the highest in volume this season. Lastly if the organization moves away from Fournette, quickly grab Armstead.
