Fantasy Football

Week Six Fantasy Football Waiver Must Adds are here!

Week Six of fantasy football is at the door, meaning that the season is about one third finished. How are everyone’s rosters looking? Are there injuries as far as the eye can see? Are there underperforming players who need replacing? Is your fantasy season already teetering on the brink? Certainly, there are holes from coast to coast that need to be filled. What is a manager to do? Turn to Belly Up Fantasy Sports, of course! This week six fantasy football waiver pickups will give the answers you seek! Let’s dive in, shall we?

Running Backs

Devontae Booker, New York Giants, 3.8% Owned

Booker may be the last man standing for the New York Offense

Ultimately, this may be a question of there are no other healthy players on the Giants offensive roster. Many went down during New York’s dismantling at the hands of the Cowboys. As should come as no surprise, Saquon Barkley is dealing with an injury, which at first, looked like a severe one. Now, it is being reported that he suffered a low ankle sprain and is day to day. In any case, Devontae Booker leads off this week six fantasy football waiver pickups edition.

Booker had his best game of the season against Dallas, rushing 16 times for 42 yards and a touchdown, Additionally, he caught three of his four targets and another TD. For the day, Booker put up 20 fantasy points. He is unlikely to repeat that performance against the Rams, but what other running back that has his availability scored 20 fantasy points Sunday? Of course, the answer is none. If Barkley misses any time at all, Booker is a must add. Even if Barkley does play, claiming Booker off waivers is still a smart play.

Samaje Perine, Cincinnati Bengals, 34.8% Owned

Despite Mixon leading the way, Perine posted a big game Sunday against the Packers

Another player turning in his best game of the season Sunday was Samaje Perine. Even with Joe Mixon having a great game himself, Perine clearly showed that two running backs can thrive in the Bengals’ system. Against the Packers, Perine rushed 11 times for 54 yards. That comes out to a healthy 5.4 yards per carry average. In addition, Perine caught four of five targets for another 24 yards and a touchdown.

The carries and the receptions were more than Perine had in the first four games combined. Of course, it also helps that the sorry Detroit Lions are next up on the schedule for the Bengals. Cincinnati is a very good team and could easily be 4-1 if their kicker could make a field goal. Getting that fourth win shouldn’t be a problem for them next week, however, and Perine should have another excellent game. He had 17 fantasy points and he could easily equal that against the Lions, even with Mixon playing lead back.

Other running backs to consider:

Myles Gaskin was dropped by a whole lot of owners after pulling a disappearing act during the first four weeks of the season. He resurfaced in a big way Sunday with 10 catches and two TDs. Gaskin scored an eye opening 31 fantasy points against Tampa. Jacksonville is up next. It would certainly be worth it to see if Gaston is on your league’s waiver wire and pounce if he is.

Wide Receivers

DeSean Jackson, Los Angeles Rams, 4% Owned

Jackson will be very fantasy worthy the next three weeks

This selection has much more to do with the Rams’ upcoming schedule that DeSean Jackson himself. After all, Jackson only caught one pass against Seattle Thursday, even if it was a 68 yard bomb. Los Angeles has the Giants, Detroit and Houston as their next three games. It should be noted that none of those teams play great defense. The Rams’ offense should have their way with all three.

That puts Jackson squarely on the waiver radar. When the Rams air it out, there is a place for all three of their receivers. Jackson could be in line to repeat his week three performance against Tampa Bay in which he averaged an eye popping 40 yards a catch and scored 26 fantasy points. No other receiver that has Jackson’s availability has that kind of potential the next three games. For that reason, Jackson leads off the wide receiver class on this week six fantasy football waiver pickups edition.

Tim Patrick, Denver Broncos, 29.7% Owned

A break out game is on the way for Patrick

Is it just me or does it seem that a huge game is on the way for Tim Patrick? It certainly helps that Courtland Sutton is heathy and demands multiple defenders shadowing him. Against the Steelers, Patrick caught seven of his nine targets for 89 yards. He has yet to hit pay dirt, but that should change soon as well. Patrick has been very consistent, only scoring less than 12 fantasy points once this season.

However, the best is yet to come. Patrick will have room to roam with Sutton on the other side of the field. Denver has slowed after a strong start but return home to face the also slumping Raiders this Sunday. The Chargers were super nova on Las Vegas a few games ago. The Broncos don’t have that kind of offensive fire power, but their skill players are solid. If wide receiver is an issue, Patrick can help solve it, at least for this week.

Other Wide Receivers to Consider:

Josh Gordon played his first game Sunday night against Buffalo. The results were certainly nothing to write home about with only one catch for 11 yards. However, the KC offense hasn’t been all it can be so far this season. If Gordon can come anywhere near what he is capable of, managers would have a very viable fantasy wide receiver on their hands. Now is the time to make a move as his availability will surely sky rocket if he turns in a big performance against Washington.

Marquez Callaway is on bye this week, but receiver isn’t a huge concern at the moment, he is a worthy pickup. He was targeted eight times Sunday, resulting in four catches for 85 yards and two TDs. He had 25 fantasy points on the day. After the bye, Seattle is up next. Their defense is terrible and Callaway should have a huge game for them. Act this week before he disappears.

Tight Ends

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots, 35.7% Owned

It seems the Patriots have figured out how to get Henry more involved in their passing game

While it is surprising that it took this long, it certainly looks like New England has figured out how best to use Hunter Henry. The stats prove it as Henry set season highs in catches, targets and yards in Sunday’s win over Houston. Henry caught six of eight targets for 75 yards and a touchdown. That is TDs in consecutive games now for Henry.

The Cowboys come in to Foxboro this week. While their offense is tearing people a new one on a weekly basis, their defense still leaves something to be desired. Henry can be the safety value that Mac Jones (see below) needs to put up some big numbers, real and fantasy wise. Henry put up 19 fantasy points against the Texans and can certainly do the same against Dallas. It is safe to say that Henry leads the way for tight ends on this week six fantasy football waiver pickups edition.

David Njoku, Cleveland Browns, 1.6% Owned

See the source image

Anyone that defines the term coming out of thin air should include a picture of David Njoku. Against the Chargers Sunday, Njoku exploded on the scene like never before. His seven catches matched his total for his previous three games. The seven targets were just three fewer that Njoku had all season coming into the game. He also scored a TD. Those stats, while impressive, weren’t even the best part of Njoku’s game.

Without question, that stat would be the 149 yards turned those seven catches into. While not the best at math, my calculation is that comes out to an unbelievable 21.3 yards per catch average. Njoku was on benches throughout the fantasy universe. With the tight end so short on play makers, anyone could have used the 32 fantasy points he scored Sunday. Cleveland’s next three games are at home and Njoku should be able to provide solid stats, even with Austin Hooper around. By the way, Hooper wasn’t even targeted Sunday. It looks like Njoku is the tight end of choice going forward.

Quarterbacks

Mac Jones, New England Patriots, 13.7% Owned

See the source image
Jones should stand tall against the Cowboys this Sunday

Much like Hunter Henry above, Mac Jones is the quarterback leading off this week six fantasy football waiver pickups edition due to the upcoming matchup above all else. With Dallas up next, the Patriots and Jones should be able to move the football. To be sure, Jones’ performance has been up and down this season, but that is expected for a rookie QB.

However, look for similar production that Jones put up against Tampa Bay a few weeks ago. In that game, Jones 31 of 40 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns. Jones finished that contest with 36.5 fantasy points, the second time this season he has been above 30. Certainly, he needs to cut down on the interceptions, as he has five on the season. Jones will put that behind him, though, against the Cowboys and is clearly a viable fantasy starter this week.

Taylor Heinicke, Washington Football Team, 12.6% Owned

See the source image
Heinicke looks to bounce back against the Chiefs after a tough outing in week five

No question, the three game hot streak that Taylor Heinicke was on came to a screeching halt against the Saints this weekend. Even so, that will not stop a recommendation for him to have a fantasy home in week six. The reason? The Chiefs are next up and it is clear that their defense is a complete mess right now. Buffalo made mince meat out of it in the rain in their Sunday night clash. To be sure, no one is comparing Heinicke to Josh Allen.

However, Heinicke can certainly be a viable starting fantasy QB against the second worst team defense in the NFL. Coming into the game against the Saints, Heinicke scored 43, 35 and 44.5 fantasy points in his previous three outings. He also had seven TD passes in that same period while also scoring on the ground. It would be safe to expect similar numbers against the Chiefs in week six. Teams are going to need a replacement for Russell Wilson and Heinicke can do that very comfortably.

Other Quarterback to Consider:

If QB isn’t a pressing need right now, consider adding Matt Ryan and stashing him until week seven. Ryan has been scalding hot these past few weeks. He is in for a big day against Miami after he comes off his bye. Ryan has scored over 40 fantasy points in three of the past four and adding him this week is a move that your fellow league mates won’t see coming.
