Temporary Death of Fantasy Sports

Temporary Death

The announcements one after another came rolling in day after day. The deathly COVID-19 virus slowly and surely took every single active sport away from us as fans. So, of course, that means it has also taken away all of our fantasy sports options. As of late it almost seems like we are seeing the death of fantasy sports, or maybe a temporary death of fantasy sports as we know it right now.

We Are All Suffering

Temporary Fantasy Death

With leagues like the NBA, and NHL potentially being lost the rest of the season. Leaving the risk of there not being a postseason champion to be crowned. As mentioned above other sports followed suit either canceling the remaining season or delaying it for at least eight weeks. Those decisions caused great loss among huge casino stock prices and sportsbook companies. The most well known of the casino companies Caesars lost fifty-five percent of their stock price since January thirtieth of this year. The biggest sportsbook company Diamond Eagle who owns Draft Kings lost almost twenty percent of there stock price in that same time period. So, don’t worry we aren’t the only ones suffering the companies are as well from this temporary death sentence.

Desperate Times Call for Desperate Decisions

Listen the struggle is real, especially for those of us who love fantasy sports. It’s actually causing the super avid players to – let’s just say get extremely creative. Honestly, things are starting to get a little weird if you ask me personally. For goodness sake, FanDuel was allowing fans in certain states to bet on words or phrases used in the Democratic debate. That’s right you could’ve won money based on how many times one of the candidates said “Trump” or talked about free health care. If you think that’s weird though just wait it’s about to go up a notch.

You where warned it was about to get strange. You would think with the temporary death of fantasy sports would seem like a prohibition type era for us avid players. Fans in the United States are having to go “underground” to bet like there are some sports betting speakeasy spots. If so what’s the secret code and how does one get access to said code?

Temporary Death brings on Virtual Horse racing

Your sports betting fans in the states are betting on things such as Russian Hockey Leagues and virtual horse racing. Oh yeah, you read that correctly – people are winning and losing money on digital horses! I’ll take it a step further though while doing some research I learned a company in Costa Rica is even betting on things such as the projected temperature in cities around the world! That’s almost like betting on the length grass can grow in a short period of time!

Is It The Death of Fantasy Sports?

Listen I know sport’s betting fans really can’t buy a bucket right now. It’s slim picking and every single ounce of sports news we get is being treated like literal gold. Desperate times call for desperate and even embarrassingly desperate measures. Hopefully, things will go back to normal in the real and gambling world. While I know it seems like we have possibly seen the death of fantasy sports as we know. However we can’t say that for sure, but it is an industry right now that is badly wounded.
