To Outscore Or To Not Outscore: Week 1

Philip, why not just name it “Start/Sit?” Well, one because I believe that start/sits are lame, boring, and outdated. Two, because start/sits are too subjective and not very data-based. Finally, I chose the name because it is clever and humorous, just like yours truly. Here, we will go over who will and who won’t outscore their week 1 fantasy football projections.

Tom Brady

In a game where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Bucs) are the 2.5-point favorites, I believe that the game is not actually going to go that way. I just do not believe that the Dallas Cowboys are going to be able to hang around for four quarters of football. With that being said, I think that the Bucs will get out to a lead early and lean on Leonard Fournette often. While Chris Godwin is still a game-time decision and depending on how Trevon Diggs plays, Mike Evans could either boom or be held in check.

Other than that, who knows what we will see from the other WRs Russell Gage and Julio Jones. I am predicting that Tom Brady will not outscore his Sleeper projection of 21.29 FPTS.

Miles Sanders

In a game where the Philadelphia Eagles are -5 over the Detroit Lions, I expect the number one rushing team in the NFL to truly run it down the Lions throats. The Lions are not and have not been good at stopping the run. In 2022, the Eagles are coming in with the number one ranked offensive line. A perfect recipe for rushing success for Miles Sanders. Throw in a TD for fun and you have a great day for fantasy. I have Sanders outscoring his Sleeper projection of 10.4 FPTS by a pretty good margin.

Deebo Samuel

The San Fransico 49ers are -6.5 favorites in this game. The run game is going to be heavily used dur to bad weather with wind and rain in the forecast for the entire game. Therefore, you may be thinking, well Deebo Samuel is basically an RB right? No. They will be running with Trey Lance, Elijah Mitchell, Jeff Wilson, and Tyrion Davis-Price in a game where the field is soaked. There may be one or two attempts for an end-around, but other than that, there won’t be much passing.

This is why I believe Deebo will not outscore his Sleeper projection of 15.6 FPTS.

David Njoku

In a game where the line is dead even, I expect it to be a duel throughout. The Browns are going to have to get it done through the air. This means that David Njoku, Jacoby Brissett‘s favorite position to throw to is going to have lot’s of targets. Hopefully some of those targets come to fruition and you are happy that you started him as a streamer.

I believe that he will in fact outscore his Sleeper projection of 9.8 FPTS.
