Semtexmex’s DraftKings DFS Plays: Week 2

Semtexmex is back to give you some DFS plays of the week for DraftKings and to win you some money. In Week 1, I went 5-2-1, with the one being an early exit for Elijah Mitchell. The five I got right were Kirk Cousins, Jameis Winston, Marquise Brown, Tyler Conklin, and Travis Kelce. I was wrong on Aaron Jones and Randall Cobb. Here’s to having another good week, lets’s win some big money this week, guys. Happy Week 2!

Derek Carr – $6,200

Last week the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes walked all over the Cardinals to the tune of 360 yards and five touchdowns.  Carr made it a priority to hyper-target Davante Adams, going to him 17 times in Week 1, which was why he was picked off three times. Derek needs to utilize his weapons better this week, and I fully expect this offense works out its kinks against a defense that was pitiful last week. At $6,200, Carr is a cheaper QB1 this week, so take advantage of this steal of a deal.

Antonio Gibson – $6,200

Antonio Gibson is getting a swiss cheese defense this week to eat up in the Detroit Lions. Last week the Eagles gained 216 yards on the ground; 126 went to a trio of Miles Sanders, Kenneth Gainwell, and Boston Scott. Last week against the Jaguars, Gibson put up 160 scrimmage yards while catching seven of eight passes and rushing 14 times. The Commander’s lead back was a throwback to his days at Memphis. If this utilization strategy continues against the Lions, then we could be in for a big week. Much like Carr, Gibson at $6,200 is a really cheap RB1 option this week on DraftKings.

Deebo Samuel – $7,800

Samuel is full tilt boogie when it comes to project “wideback”. Last week he ran the ball eight times for 52 yards and a touchdown in a rainy game vs. the Bears. Expect more of this in Week 2 as Elijah Mitchell is out for two months, and Jeff Wilson Jr will be the starter. Since Week 10 of 2021, Samuel has averaged 6.7 carries a game, and a good stat to follow is he’s averaged a touchdown every seven carries. Seattle last week allowed 101 yards to Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams, so expect the Niners to utilize Samuel early, often, and all over the field. At $7,800, he’s one of the cheaper tier-one receivers and should be making an impact in this game.

Mark Andrews – $6,400

Andrews has been great against the Dolphins, averaging eight targets, 7.5 receptions, 85.5 yards, and a touchdown. Look for the Ravens to look his way early and often in this game, and with Xavien Howard covering Rashod Bateman. I fully expect Andrews to be the lead receiver and well worth the $6,400 on DraftKings this week.

Bengals Defense – $2,200

This is the steal of the week. At $2,200, the Bengals’ defense can make the Cowboys look bad this week with Cooper Rush as their quarterback. Last week he took over the offense and got sacked twice in his limited time. Rush will often look over his shoulder in this game between the weak line and the lack of receiving options. Grab this defense at this price as they will pay dividends in DraftKings.
