Start ‘Em Or Sit ‘Em: Week 3

Who do I start and who do I sit? Ah yes, the age-old question in fantasy football. Well, you should start your studs and sit those who may lay an egg for your team any given week. The goal in fantasy football is obviously to start the right players. Players who can put up big numbers for a combined point total to beat your league-mates and to try and avoid the inevitable dud performance.

***DISCLAIMER: When I say “sit em’” for a particular player, that doesn’t mean you are actually going to bench them unless I explicitly tell you to do so. Rather, it means to simply temper expectations as I predict that they are not going to score more points than they are projected to on the Sleeper app.

Aaron Rodgers

I predict that Aaron Rodgers will outscore his projection of 19.59 FPTS against the Buccaneers.

The Packers are currently coming into this game as one-point underdogs. They have gone 0-2 against Brady and the Bucs and everyone knows they are hungry for this win. The Bucs offensive injury woes should light a fire under the offense and I expect an excess of targets to find Allen Lazard, Aaron Jones, AJ Dillon, and even Romeo Doubs. This should be a fun game and one where Rodgers and Packers don’t crap the bed against a good NFC team. I predict a Rodgers rushing TD and over 1.5 passing TDs.

Austin Ekeler

I predict that Austin Ekeler will outscore his projection of 20.6 FPTS against the Jaguars.

This call was the easiest of the week for me. With Justin Herbert still dealing with his painful rib injury and Keenan Allen potentially missing another week, I would not expect a lot of long and deep passes on Sunday. For Ekeler, this means that he very well could see 15 or more targets come his way. Connecting on just half of them would mean Ekeler managers are in store for a big fantasy day. They should handle business easily and lean on the run game throughout. I predict a TD for Ekeler and over 115 total yards. He’s my RB1 on the week.

Garrett Wilson

I predict that Garrett Wilson will outscore his projection of 12.6 FPTS against the Bengals.

Wilson is showing the NFL that he may be the best rookie WR from the 2022 NFL draft class. His route running ability and play style is very similar to that of Davante Adams. Wilson is an easy target for QBs, especially for the likes of Joe Flacco. He has a great presence around the red zone and is always one cut away from a big play. Assuming the Jets are going to play from behind most of the game, I predict over 50 receiving yards and over six receptions.

T.J. Hockenson

I am predicting T.J. Hockenson will outscore his projection of 11 FPTS against the Vikings.

You may not believe it, but the Lions are actually the second-highest scoring offense in the NFL right now. Also at the moment, their game against the Vikings is the second-highest implied point total on the Sunday NFL slate. The Vikings are currently ranked in the middle of the pack for points allowed against opposing TEs, so Hockenson should have himself a solid day. I predict that he is an anytime TD scorer.
