DEF/ST Fantasy Football: DAWGS Or FRAUDS Week 7

Week 7 has just finished, and we will look back at the best and worst DEF/ST Fantasy Football performances of the week. Take note that we are using Sleeper’s PPR scoring system for this analysis.

Golden DAWG: Dallas Cowboys 26 FP

4 Forced Fumbles, 3 Fumble Recoveries, 2 Interceptions, 5 Sacks, 1-6 Points Allowed (Projected: 9.13 FP)

The Dallas Cowboys forced a key fumble in their win against the Lions

The Dallas Cowboys defense stepped up in the second half in their 24-6 win against the Lions. They allowed zero points while having two interceptions and three fumble recoveries. The Cowboys defense has been a big reason why they are one of the top teams in the NFC. Look for Dallas to rely on the defense as the season goes on. They are currently the top DEF/ST in fantasy football by a wide margin.

Silver DAWG: Tennessee Titans 20 FP

1 Forced Fumble, 1 Fumble Recovery, 1 Defense TD, 2 Interceptions, 3 Sacks, 7-13 Points Allowed (Projected: 8.96 FP)

The Titans stopped the Colts’ offense

The Titans came out fast with a 13-0 lead at halftime. The defense played its part with the hot start by an Andrew Adams pick-6. This forced the Colts to rely more on the passing game which isn’t as strong as their running game. The Titans have won four games in a row and are looking like the team to beat in the AFC South.

Bronze DAWG: Kansas City Chiefs 14 FP

1 Forced Fumble, 1 Fumble Recovery, 2 Interceptions, 5 Sacks, 1 Safety (Projected: 6.59 FP)

The Chiefs’ defense made it difficult for the 49ers even with their new addition on offense

The Kansas City Chiefs held the 49ers to just 23 points even with the addition of Christian McCaffrey. Chris Jones led the defense with two sacks and a forced fumble. Frank Clark also had one and a half sacks on Jimmy G. This was a good win for the Chiefs and will enjoy a bye in Week 8.

Golden FRAUD: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1 FP

1 Sack (Projected: 10.17 FP)

Carolina had the biggest upset win by defeating the Buccaneers

Tampa Bay was supposed to dominate against the Panthers in Week 7. However, they lost in the biggest upset of the week 21-3. The new rushing attack of D’Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard ran for 181 yards and a TD. P.J. Walker led the passing attack with two TDs. Tampa Bay will have to forget this game quickly as they play TNF against the Ravens.

Silver FRAUD: Pittsburgh Steelers 1 FP

14-20 Points Allowed (Projected: 7.32 FP)

The Steelers had missed opportunities in their loss to the Dolphins

The Steelers had a chance to win against the Dolphins but there were missed opportunities on both sides of the ball. Steelers defenders dropped multiple passes that could have been interceptions. Raheem Mostert had 109 total yards and a TD. While Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill combined for 11 catches for 160 yards. They have a tough matchup with the undefeated Eagles in Week 8.

Bronze FRAUD: Jacksonville Jaguars 1 FP

1 Sack (Projected: 7.30 FP)

The Jaguars had no answer to the Giants’ running game

The Giants rushing attack could not be stopped by the Jacksonville Jaguars defense. Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones ran for a combined 217 yards and a TD. The only contribution by the Jaguars was a sack from Travon Walker. The Jaguars hot start has been erased with a four game losing streak. Everyone will need to step up for them to have a chance in the postseason. They were one of the best DEF/ST to start the season but have scored only one point in the last two weeks.
