Fantasy Football Week 9 Sleepers & Streamers

The fantasy season heads into Week 9, and now is not the time to make any mistakes. Bye weeks and injuries can be a killer when working towards that playoff berth. Don’t let this week get away from you due to a bad pick up or unfavorable matchup. Below we have this week’s Streamers and Sleepers to help cure your fantasy anxiety.

The Difference Between Sleepers and Streamers in Fantasy Football

Sleepers are players that will continue to stay on your roster, perhaps in a backup or handcuff role. They are poised to have a big week based on matchup or injury. On the other hand, streamers are players that will be relevant only for this week. They are a quick pick-up and drop, hopefully with a big fantasy week in between.

Trevor Lawrence – Jaguars QB

Lawrence has had an up and down sophomore season. He shows flashes of being a franchise quarterback, or he throws a blatant interception in the endzone during the game in London. It’s tough to tell what you’ll get weekly. This week should be an easier matchup against the Raiders. They are allowing 269 yards per game while giving up 15 touchdowns to only 3 interceptions. Lawrence is a sneaky good pick to finish this week as a QB1. Sleeper

Deon Jackson Colts

Deon Jackson – Colts RB

Jonathan Taylor, this year’s number 1 fantasy draft selection, has been banged up for most of the season. In his time away, Deon Jackson and Nyheim Hines picked up the slack in the rushing game. Taylor has missed practice a few times this week and Hines was traded to the Bills, so this week is shaping up to be Deon Jackson’s breakout. The Colts don’t have a great matchup with the Patriots this weekend, but Jackson is a threat in the rushing and passing game. Already this season while Taylor was out, he caught 10 passes in a game. Now, that Hines is gone, Jackson will get the bulk of rushing attempts and the running back targets that Hines left behind. Monitor Taylor’s health going into Sunday and pick up Jackson if he’s available. Streamer

Joshua Palmer Chargers

Joshua Palmer – Chargers WR

The Chargers passing game is led by one of the best young quarterbacks in Justin Herbert. Unfortunately, their receiving corps have been banged up. Mike Williams is out for a few weeks and Keenan Allen still might not be ready to return, even after the bye. He hasn’t progressed as hoped according to coach Brandon Staley. This leaves Joshua Palmer as the lead wideout. Williams averaged almost 8.5 targets per game, and those targets are available for Palmer. Austin Ekeler may get some additional looks from Herbert, but Palmer could be in for a few very productive weeks as well. Sleeper

Devin Duvernay – Ravens WR

The Ravens aren’t known to be a team with great wide receivers. That doesn’t hide the fact that Lamar Jackson still needs to throw the ball to somebody. That somebody should be Devin Duvernay this weekend. Mark Andrews is dealing with an ankle injury, and Rashod Bateman is out for the season. Duvernay already has 5 games over 10 points in PPR leagues this season. He hasn’t totaled many receiving yards, 54 yards is his highest total so far, but that should increase while Bateman is out. Duvernay won’t be a savior for your fantasy lineup, but could be inserted as a quality Flex or WR3. Streamer

Van Jefferson Rams

Van Jefferson – Rams WR

The Rams are in for a tough matchup this weekend with the Bucs. They may also be without All-Pro WR Cooper Kupp. At the very least, he may be limited after suffering an ankle injury in Week 8. Matt Stafford may have to look elsewhere. Most may think that means Allen Robinson, but it actually may end up being Van Jefferson. Last Sunday was his first action of the season after undergoing a knee procedure over the summer. He didn’t receive any targets in Week 8 against the 49ers, but that should change going forward, especially if Kupp is out. Jefferson had 800 yards and 6 TDs last season, proving he can be relied on, he just needs to get adjusted to the offense after his injury. Sleeper
