As this is the second of an on-going series please comment and let us know who we missed! Next, without further ado here are the inaugural big headliners of the week for you in quick, concise excerpts.
Gun Slinger Headlines:
Jameis Winston
Jameis Winston is lighting up headlines this Sunday morning as he is signing with the New Orleans Saints. His one year deal was reported by Charlie Robinson in today’s waking hours. The former Nole’s QB will be leaving Florida and heading to the Big Easy to back up veteran Drew Brees. As I mentioned in a previous article, I do not buy into the hype of Famous Jameis. In conclusion, Jameis will be a streaming option only when Drew Brews hands over the reins.
Jordan Love
Jordan Love the former Utah State QB who scored a 27 on the Wonderlic test. Will be the heir to the Packers Kingdom. The Packers traded up in the first round of the draft and instead of finding a weapon for Rodgers, selected his replacement. The Packers have not selected a Quarterback in the first round since Rodgers in 2005. Chills went down my spine as I’m sure the aging Rodgers had the same feeling. Knowing that come camp he will be in his predecessor’s shoes.
In conclusion, Jordan Love is great for Dynasty and should be taken off the board. His relevance in redraft leagues and Superflex leagues are minimal to non-existent until Rodgers leaves the field.
Joe Burrow
The former LSU Tiger King, Joe Burrow goes 1.01 in the 2020 NFL Draft as everyone expected. He will have the weight of his home state on his shoulders come to camp. Burrow has high expectations as the future of the organization. Joe will be an instant asset to most fantasy managers looking for a second quarterback. He should be off of fantasy boards in rookie drafts by the start of the third. Look for him to have a good season. In conclusion, Joe Burrow will be a mid-tier QB 2 with an upside.
Pass Catcher Headlines:
Tee Higgins
Tee Higgins the former Clemson play-maker, will be suiting up alongside 1.01 Joe Burrow come camp time. The Bengals organization is building for the future and took the face of their franchise first. At the start of the second round, they then took his next best friend. WR Tee Higgins who is an absolute animal. He is big, fast, strong, and a great red-zone target for Burrow. Higgins will have some value moving forward and should be owned in all leagues. In conclusion, fire up Tee Higgins as a WR 4 with massive upside.
Henry Ruggs III
The fastest receiver in the first round was also taken first overall. Henry Ruggs III was taken by the Las Vegas Raiders as the first receiver off the board. History has repeated itself and the Raiders once again select speed. Ruggs III will have an instant impact as a returner and should take the top off some defenses this season. In conclusion, make Ruggs III down as a WR 3 with upside.
Ceedee Lamb:
The Cowboys do it again, selecting the best possible talent. Ceedee Lamb the former Sooner fell to Jerry Jones and he scooped him up. The Cowboys will have a stacked offense this season with Cooper, Gallup, Jarwin, Elliott, and now Lamb. Look for Lamb be in an instant plug and play who will be taken in rookie drafts by the second round. In conclusion, mark Ceedee Lamb down as a WR 3 with a big-play upside.
Rushing Headlines:
D’Andre Swift
Swift the former college standout, was selected by the Detroit Lions. A team that many have thought were solid at running back. The addition to the crowded backfield is a mystery to some, but others believe he will be the three-down back the organization has been searching for the last few seasons. Swift will be taken in rookie drafts in the first round and should be a flex candidate early. Lock Swift in as a RB 3 with high-end RB 2 potential.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire
The World Champion Kansas City Chiefs with the 32nd pick in the 2020 NFL Draft select, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, running back, LSU. With the last pick in the first round, the Chiefs add the versatile running back from LSU. He can run between the tackles, pass block, and catch the ball out of the backfield. He is Andy Reid’s dream back and will be in the RB 1 talks early in the season. In conclusion, pencil in CEH as a RB 2 with RB 1 upside.
J.K. Dobbins
The Baltimore Ravens select Texas native J.K. Dobbins. The Ravens have made some huge moves with GM Eric DeCosta at the wheel. Dobbins adds to the rushing attack of Baltimore and joins Ingram II, Edwards, and Jackson. Dobbins, a Pinto household favorite, will be taken in the first round of rookie drafts and will be an early candidate for huge work if something happens to Ingram II. In conclusion, J.K. Dobbins will be a RB 2 with some upside.
