Belly Up Mock TE Premium: Ryan

Belly Up Fantasy’s Mock Draft Mania continued this Saturday, June 20th, with a TE premium draft. I ended up with the first pick in this draft, and as per usual, I believe my team is the best. After this article, I think you will too. I also include an analysis of my starting lineup. 2019 Fantasy points courtesy of FantasyPros.

Start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2 FLX
QB: D Watson(6.10), M Stafford (12.10)
RB: S Barkley(1.1), A Jones (2.10), J White (8.10), Du Johnson (14.10)
WR: T Hill (3.1), J Smith-Schuster(7.1), J Jeudy(10.10), M Williams(14.10)
TE: M Gesicki(4.10), D Waller(5.1), R Gronkowski(9.1), A Hooper(11.1)

QB: Deshaun Watson

Deshaun Watson is my starting QB in this mock, which makes me very happy. I have him as QB4, and Belly Up consensus lists him as QB6. Watson lost Hopkins this year, but still has a stable of potential at the WR position. If those WRs can stay healthy. I don’t think it matters, Watson is about as close to WR proof as you can get. All the guy does is win. Add in that Watson posted the second-highest fantasy points per game of all QBs in 2019 behind Lamar Jackson, and I feel content knowing my QB will not disappoint.

Matthew Stafford as a backup feels amazing too. QB is locked in.

RB: Saquon Barkley, Aaron Jones

My RB1 and RB7 respectively, I was thrilled to up my exposure to Saquon at the first overall pick. Aaron Jones as RB2 vaults my RBs up to the top of the food chain. Jones scored the fourth-most points per week, Saquon the sixth. I expect Jones to finish close to the same, and Saquon to lead the NFL in that category in 2020. An improved line along with a NYG offense I expect to explode in 2020 should make Saquon the most prized asset in fantasy football. I hope I can land these two outside of mocks also.

James White provides depth with his ppr prowess, and Duke Johnson will give fantastic value if/when David Johnson‘s injury history rears its ugly head.

WR: Tyreek Hill, JuJu Smith-Schuster

Tyreek has WR1 potential all over him, and Juju is gonna rebound after a disappointing season without his buddy Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben is back, so I expect JuJu to once again enter the elite conversation. But getting Tyreek at 3.1 was a wonderful surprise to me. The guy is not coverable, and he plays with the best QB in the game in the most high-powered offense in the league. These guys come in at WR2 and WR14 in my rankings. I am not upset. My WRs in this mock are more than capable of holding their own.

Both Jerry Jeudy and Mike Williams offer the type of high-upside I love in my WR depth. Williams already has an elite season under his belt, and Jeudy was widely regarded as one of the top rookie WRs in a stacked WR class.

TE: Mike Gesicki

Anyone who has followed me knows about my man-crush on Magic Mike. My mock draft strategy changed drastically when I realized Chris Pinto, another analyst drafting against me, was sticking to our consensus rankings. As they are still being finalized, they heavily reflected my finalized rankings. Knowing this pushed me to make my move on Gesicki early because he would not have made it back to me. You gotta go get your guys. Gesicki is my TE3, and I have no problem announcing it to the world. He is the next great TE.

My TE depth is quite frankly unbelievable. I have Darren Waller as TE7, Austin Hooper as TE9, and Rob Gronkowski as TE10. Knowing Chris was going to be drafting heavily off my rankings, I pivoted and decided to take advantage of the premium scoring afforded TEs in this format.

FLEX

My two flex starters for Week 1 as of today would be Waller and Hooper, and I would be waiting patiently for the first team to lose a TE to injury to reach out to me. I would rake them over the coals for one of my studs.

Another fun mock in the books, another team I would feel confident heading into 2020 with. Like what you see? Hate my team? Let me know @realryanhicks.
