Welcome to Week 5, everyone! Last week we had some hits, such as Dak Prescott and Dalvin Cook, and some misses (looking at you, Kenyan Drake). Let’s dive right in and find some more DFS studs and scrubs for the upcoming slate of games! Players will have their FanDuel price listed first followed by their DraftKings price.

Studs

Studs are the players you can build your lineup around and feel confident they will produce for you. In order to “hit value”, players should be scoring at least three times their price in fantasy points. So if a player costs $8,000, you’re going to need them to get you 24 or more points. Keep that in mind when looking at the higher-priced players.

Quarterback

1. Lamar Jackson ($8,900/$7,900): Lamar absolutely tore up the Bengals last year. He’s coming off a couple down games, at least by his standard, and this could be a major get right game. He’s currently questionable to play but I expect he will be fine. The injury tag and recent play could keep his ownership down.
2. Dak Prescott ($8,700/$7,400): Dak at home is always a good play, especially with how porous the Cowboys defense is at the moment. He’ll probably be popular but for good reason.
3. Patrick Mahomes ($9,000/$7,700): Mahomes is always in play, regardless of matchup. He’s lit up the AFC West rival Raiders in his career, nothing will change this week.

Running Back

1. Josh Jacobs ($8,200/$6,300): The last two weeks haven’t been great, but his DK price is way too cheap. He’s a lock for me on there. If the Raiders want a chance at winning they’re going to have to keep the ball out of Mahomes’ hands.
2. Clyde Edwards-Helaire ($7,900/$6,800): The Raiders are getting steamrolled on the ground right now. CEH has seen a heavy workload during the first four weeks and I doubt that will change here. I’m betting he finds the end zone for the first time since opening night.
3. Jerick McKinnon ($6,400/$5,800): McKinnon becomes a lock at these prices if Raheem Mostert doesn’t suit up. He played almost every snap last week and gets a great matchup with the Dolphins. I think you can still play him with Mostert active.

Wide Receiver

1. Tyreek Hill ($8,200/$6,900): Another guy who just seems way too cheap on DK this week. He’s always a threat for a three-touchdown game.
2. Amari Cooper ($7,800/$7,400): Cooper has been the primary benefactor of Prescott’s insane passing volume. Go ahead and fire him up in another potential shootout with the Giants.
3. Robby Anderson ($6,200/$5,900): To many fantasy players dismay, Anderson has been the Panthers’ most productive receiver up to this point. Now he gets a great matchup with the lowly Falcons. Jackpot.

Tight End

1. George Kittle ($7,100/$6,600): Kittle is the third most expensive TE on FanDuel, he should probably be the most expensive. He showed no ill effects from his knee injury that cost him a couple of games last week and seems locked in for a big season.
2. Mark Andrews ($7,500/$6,200): I probably won’t play Andrews much outside of stacking him with Lamar just due to Kittle being cheaper on FanDuel, but if you’re looking to save a few bucks on DK he’s a solid choice with multi-touchdown upside.

Scrubs

This wouldn’t be the weekly DFS Studs and Scrubs article without some scrubs! Scrubs are cheaper players that you can use to fill in the cracks in your lineup. Some may have a lot of upside and some may be cheap floor plays. Think of this as the bargain bin at your local TJ Maxx. Some of it might be crap, but every now and then you find a gem. Let’s go find the gems!

1. Jimmy Garoppolo ($6,700/$5,500): This is contingent on Jimmy playing of course, but if he does he should be able to crack 20 points against Miami.
2. J.D. McKissic ($4,800/$4,000): Smooches quietly saw eight targets last week, hauling in seven of them. Now he gets Kyle Allen at QB who likes throwing to running backs. There’s some cheap upside here in a game WFT will be likely be playing from behind in.
3. Brian Hill ($4,800/$4,000): Hill could flirt with ten to twelve touches against a terrible Panthers run defense. That’s enough to stir some interest as a cheap punt play.
4. CeeDee Lamb ($5,900/$6,000): Four games into his career and it’s easy to see that Lamb is going to be a stud. I mean he already is, but he isn’t priced like one. Let’s take advantage of that.
5. Darius Slayton ($5,800/$4,800): Slayton will most likely be popular on both sites, especially DK. His price tag is just too cheap for his upside against the piece of wet newspaper known as the Cowboys defense.
6. Mo Alie-Cox ($5,400/$4,200): It might be too early to call him Philip Rivers’ new Antonio Gates, but he DID play basketball! He has either gone over 100 yards or scored a touchdown in all three starts this year.
7. Eric Ebron ($5,100/$4,000): Ebron tends to leave a bad taste in fantasy players’ mouths a lot, but he’s got a solid matchup against an Eagles defense that can’t stop tight ends.
