Building a Thanksgiving day parlay to keep not only keep you interested in all three games, but to make some money in the process.
Thanksgiving Day Parlay Leg 1
Houston Texans at Detroit Lions
This year, the terrible Lions will be taking on the terrible Texans at 12:30 PM. Depending on if you’re cooking, watching the parade, or very hungover, this game doesn’t really drag you away from whatever you’re doing. It has more draft implications than anything else.
To add some appeal, just like to improve the dry, overcooked turkey, throw some gravy on it! Bettors don’t have to look too far passed Sunday to pick their side. The Texans come into the week off an impressive 27-20 win against the Patriots. Deshaun Watson and the offense seemed to be clicking on all cylinders. The terrible Lions got beat down by the Carolina Panthers 20-0. The Panthers came into the game losing 5 straight and were starting an XFL quarterback. Terrible. Those same Panthers gave up at least 20 points in all 5 of those losses! The Lions failed to score a single point. I also imagine head coach Matt Patricia will be looking ahead to feasting after the game, losing sight of the task at hand.
Granted, the Lions have a lot of health questions coming into the game. I imagine they might have a couple more weapons than last week, but still not enough to pull off the win. For the first leg of the Thanksgiving day parlay, I’m taking the Texans on the moneyline.
Thanksgiving Day Parlay Leg 2
Washington Football Team at Dallas Cowboys
WelL SOmeoNE Has To WIn THe DiVIsIoN RiGht? Yeah, I wouldn’t have thought of that Joe Buck! Is that a new rule? Or is it in every announcer’s contract to say that? Maybe I’m the only one tired of hearing it. Anyway, both teams are coming into this NFC East showdown coming off a win. The difference is, the Cowboys beat the Vikings who were trending towards a wildcard spot themselves, while the Football Team beat a backup quarterback on a bad Bengals team.
I think the Cowboys have enough weapons to put some points on the board. I realize the Football team has a pretty good pass rush/front seven, but I think the Cowboys will keep them honest with Zeke and Dalton. Remember, last time the Cowboys were dominated by the Football Team, Ben DiNucci came in after Dalton was decapitated. I don’t believe in Alex Smith will be able to “out-duel” Dalton. I understand Smith threw for almost 400 yards a couple weeks ago against the Lions, but it was a pretty poor showing last week against the bad Bengals defense. For the second leg of the Thanksgiving day parlay, I’m taking the Cowboys on the moneyline.
Thanksgiving Day Parlay Leg 3
Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers
A classic AFC North matchup sees the Baltimore Ravens heading into the Steel City to face the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are red hot this season, and many consider them to be the most well rounded team in all of football. The Ravens are coming in trending in the wrong direction, losing 3 of 4 and having a very serious COVID issue heading into Thursday.
I believe the Ravens are going to come into the primetime game (as long as the game is not postponed) and play very good football. I believe they will try to control the clock by running the ball, which is what they do best. Yeah, Mark Ingram and J.K. Dobbins are out due to COVID, but last time these two teams met, Gus Edwards ran for almost 100 yards and a touchdown.
That being said, the Steelers are the better football team. They have an offense that is very difficult to be shut down. They have the ability to score at the drop of a hat, and I don’t need to tell anyone how good their defense is at taking away the football. For the final leg of the Thanksgiving day parlay I think Pittsburgh wins in a close one, so I’m taking the Steelers on the moneyline.
The Final Pick
In conclusion, I’m taking the Texans, Cowboys and Steelers all on the moneyline. Draftkings has this parlay paying out at +309. If you’re feeling a little more risky, I wouldn’t blame you for taking the Steelers with the spread, which would increase this to +439. As a side note, I’d keep an eye on Gus Edwards’ rushing prop. DK doesn’t have one listed quite yet, but as I mentioned above, he had a very productive day against the Steelers the last time they played. That was splitting carries with Dobbins, who is not going to suit up on Thursday. I probably like him to go over anything 62 and under.
