The NHL Season is already underway and the games have not failed us yet. On Thursday night, we will witness 10 games as the NHL hopes to dive right into the planned 56 games. Last night, we split the predictions on the recommended games and had one of the anytime goal scorers find the back of the net. Based on the odds, we made a slight profit on Opening Night. Let’s look at some of the bets that can give us great odds and profitable payouts.
Sabres Over Capitals (+120)
The Sabres signed Taylor Hall this offseason with the intention to be competitive. With Jack Eichel continuing to emerge as one of the best players in the game, this could be Buffalo’s year. A win against the Capitals on opening night will put them on notice. The Capitals have one of the more talented teams in the NHL but have depth questions and a potential goaltending weakness. The Capitals will have to replace Braden Holtby in net and won’t be able to do that with Henrik Lundqvist, who will miss the season for medical reasons. The Sabres can take advantage of the weakness in the first game and steal a win.
Sharks Over Coyotes (+110)
The Sharks had everything go wrong last season. Their star defenseman, Erik Karlsson, suffered a season-ending injury and there were problems across the roster. However, the Sharks can have a bounce-back season and pull off an upset against a Coyotes team that is regarded as a middle of the pack team. The Coyotes have solid goaltending and a deep roster. This game will be interesting to watch since either team can win this game and the Sharks give us good odds.
Hurricanes Anytime Goal Scorers; Jordan Staal (+410), Vincent Trochek (+350), Jaccob Slavin (+550), Ryan Dzingel (+430)
The Hurricanes should pile on the goals in their game against the Detroit Red Wings. The Hurricanes are expected to be one of the favorites to win the Central Division. They can make a statement with a dominant performance in their opening game. We will pick a mix of established goal scorers as well as some scoring defensemen with these bets. As mentioned yesterday, all we need is for one of these players to score with these odds and it will be a profitable day. Likewise, if none of these skaters scores, it will be an incredible disappointment, but it’s a risk worth taking.
