The NHL Best Bets for the regular season are beginning to wind down as each team has less than 10 games left to play. Some teams have clinched a spot in the playoffs while some teams are still fighting for their right in the postseason. The NHL playoffs are right around the corner but that doesn’t mean we do not have some really interesting match-ups on the slate tonight.

New York Islanders @ Pittsburgh Penguins

The Islanders and Penguins just played each other two nights ago at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. The Islanders came away with the two points in an impressive 5-4 shootout win. Tonight’s game between these two teams is in the back end of a home and home series.

I think this is the perfect spot to bet the Penguins. The Penguins have only won two of their last eight contests coming into this game. This allowed the Washington Capitals to be on their tail in the playoff race. The Penguins are full of veterans that have won Stanley Cups; they know how to play when it gets close to crunch time during the long season. I think the Penguins are due for a big bounce-back win at home.

Minnesota Wild @ Dallas Stars

At this point in the regular season, I love betting on teams with their back to the wall fighting for a playoff spot. That is what we have tonight in the Dallas Stars. They are only 3 points ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights for the final spot in the wild card race.

The Stars’ offense has played very well in the last two meetings between these teams. Dallas scored seven and six goals in their last two meetings against the Wild. They know how to attack the Wild and put them on their heels defensively.

Dallas also plays much better on their home ice. They are 23-10-2 at home as opposed to 19-17-2 on the road. This is a playoff game for them and I expect them to come out ready to play.
