Hey everyone, Belly Up Fantasy Sports is hosting weekly mock drafts! I, along with other Belly Up writers, will be giving you our analysis on some of the players we drafted that week. This week’s mock draft was a TE premium league, meaning a TE gets one point per reception, while everyone else gets .5. Today, I will be analyzing my starting lineup, which consists of 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, and 2 FLEX. Without further ado, let’s get right into the analysis!

QB: Daniel Jones
In most drafts, I like to wait until the later rounds to pick up my QB. In this draft, I stuck to that strategy. I like a lot of QBs whose ADPs are lower, so I knew I could grab a solid QB for great value. With the 12.08, I snagged Daniel Jones. I’m very high on Jones going into the season. He’s my QB10 due to his upside and the weapons he has around him. Jones is in a talented Giants offense, and with some NFL experience under his belt, Jones is in for a big year.
Jones’ major flaw last season was turning the ball over. While it’s quite common for a rookie QB to turn the ball over, Jones held the ball for too long on numerous occasions. In the offseason, New York solidified the LT position by going out and drafting Andrew Thomas in the first round. Thomas should help Jones limit the turnovers, and give him a nice pocket to stand-in. Snagging Daniel Jones late in round 12 was a great value pick, and I’m very happy that he’s on my team.
RB: Alvin Kamara, Chris Carson
In this week’s mock draft, I was given the third overall pick. As per usual, Barkley and CMC were the first two taken off the board. After going back and forth between Zeke, Kamara, and Cook I ended up going with Kamara. On a high powered Saints offense, I expect Kamara to have a monster year. When healthy, Kamara is one of the best all-around RBs in the game. Kamara is an excellent runner and an even better pass catcher. If Kamara can stay healthy this season, I can see him putting up over 800 rushing and receiving yards.
The next RB that I drafted was Chris Carson. When I think of a traditional, big, power back, I think of Chris Carson. Being 5’11”, 222 lbs, Carson is an absolute tank. He can run a guy over like it’s nothing. The past two seasons have been special for Carson, as he has averaged 1,191 rushing yards and 8 TDs. Picking up Carson with the 4.08, was a great value pick, and a very solid RB2 for my team.
WR: Davante Adams, Kenny Golladay
Now, we talk about the foundation of my team. The WRs. After taking Kamara in round one, I decided to take one of the best WRs in the game, Davante Adams, with the 2.08. Adams has the capabilities to dethrone Michael Thomas, as the best fantasy WR this season. Being on the Packers will give Adams tons of targets, due to the lack of depth at WR. Adams is going to be a target machine this season, and I think that will translate into lots of receptions, yards, and TDs for Adams this year.
As the clock was on me at the 3.03, I decided to double down on WRs. Kenny Golladay had a jaw-dropping 2019-20 season, even though he had Jeff Driskel and David Blough throwing him the pigskin. Golladay posted 1,190 receiving yards, and a league-high 11 receiving TDs last season. With Matthew Stafford back under center, the sky is the limit for Golladay this season. Pairing Golladay with Adams makes for a lethal WR duo every week.
TE: Evan Engram
As this was a TE premium mock draft, lots of TEs were going off the board earlier than usual. I decided to sit tight and take my TE in the middle rounds. After Houston took Tyler Higbee with the 7.02, I decided to pull the trigger on Evan Engram with the 7.03. Evan Engram is a hell of an athlete. The 6’3″ 240 lb TE, ran a 4.42 40 yard dash. To put that in perspective, Saquon Barkley ran a 4.40 40 yard dash, making Engram just a tad bit slower than Barkley. If almost any LB matches up with Engram, it’s going to be a huge mismatch in Engram’s favor. Engram’s kryptonite has been his health. Engram played in 11 games in 2018-19 and only 8 games in 2019-20. Having Jones and Engram makes for a nice stack, which hopefully, translates to lots of fantasy points. If Engram can stay healthy, he has the potential to be a fantasy football star.
FLEX: Robert Woods, Todd Gurley
Coming in at my first FLEX spot is Robert Woods. In the past two seasons, Woods has recorded more than 1,100 receiving yards. While Woods may not be the biggest TD threat, he is a reliable and consistent WR. Having Woods as my WR3 gives me great depth at the position, and consistency every week. Picking up Robert Woods with the 5.03, gave my team lots of WR depth and flexibility.
My second flex was Robert Woods’ former teammate, Todd Gurley. Over his career, Gurley has been a TD machine. Over the past three seasons, Gurley has averaged 14 rushing TDs per year. Not to mention, he has also averaged 1,138 rushing yards per season in the last three years. Going back to where he played college ball, Georgia, Gurley should have some extra motivation going into the season. A lot of factors are saying Gurley has a great season with the Falcons and having him as my second FLEX and RB3 gave me great confidence in this team.
