Anthony Richardson is usually being taken as the first rookie QB off the board. After that, there is a decision to be made: Bryce Young or CJ Stroud.
The Case for CJ Stroud
There’s no doubt about this: CJ Stroud is bigger. The biggest complaint about Bryce Young is is size. CJ Stroud is taller and heavier. Stroud is also known to be extraordinarily accurate. But it’s really the size that is the driving factor for why people prefer him over Young.
The Case for Bryce Young
The NFL prefers him. Before the Panthers traded for the #1 pick, there was consensus that the Texans preferred Young. Clearly, the Panthers prefer Young as well. He was also distinguished in college with the Heisman Trophy. Even back to high school, he was the higher ranked recruit. He’s known for his exceptional and quick decision making, which is one of the most important qualities of a quarterback. He has slightly more proven mobility as well. Bryce Young also managed to do all of this in college with significantly inferior weapons to CJ Stroud.
I’d also say his situation is better. In my opinion, he has the much better coach, the better organization, the better QB room, and slightly better weapons.
Wrap Up
For me, it’s pretty clear. Bryce Young is the one I want. Regarding the two knocks against him, he’s always been relatively small and succeeded despite it and he’s also an accurate passer. I hope this help you to decide whether to draft Bryce Young or CJ Stroud.
