Gabriel Davis, the young wide receiver (WR) from the University of Central Florida (UCF), is heading into his third season with the Buffalo Bills. He finished as the points per reception (PPR) WR57 in both 2020 and 2021 tallying 135.9 fantasy points (FPTS) and 125.9 FPTS respectively. Let me give you a rundown on why you need to be buying into the Davis hype.
Davis’ Fellow WR Corps
The Buffalo Bills receiving corps is not as deep as some may think or as it has been in years past. The WR1 on the team is, of course, Stefon Diggs. Since joining the Bills in 2020, he has finished as the PPR WR3 & WR7 posting 331.6 and 294.5 FPTS respectively. He has been stellar and will continue to be Josh Allen‘s first look. Then we have the newbie to the team, Jamison Crowder. Crowder spent his first four seasons with the Washington Commanders and has spent his last three years with the New York Jets. While he could make an impact on the Bills, he has never finished above the WR26 and has significantly less upside than Davis.
Dawson Knox is a TE and had a breakout season, but he cannot and will not keep up with the target and yardage pace that I believe Davis will set this season.
What Has Davis Done In The Past?
Gabriel Davis showed glimpses of his ceiling in 2020 but was somewhat cast aside when the Bills signed Emmanuel Sanders in 2021 to bolster their WR corps. It was around Week 10 of the 2021 season when we saw the Bills lower the snap percentage of Sanders and raise it for Davis. He finished the regular season with two great fantasy finishes and two bust finishes. Then, it was time for the Gabriel Davis playoff special.
In their playoff loss against the Kansas City Chiefs, while the Chiefs locked down Diggs in coverage, Gabriel Davis went nuclear and put up eight receptions for 201 yards and four touchdowns. An absolutely crazy performance for someone who is considered a part-time player (<60 percent of snaps)!
Gabriel Davis’ Specialty
Gabriel Davis may not quite be the receptions and yardage guy, but he sure knows his way around the red zone. In his two seasons, he has had 23 end zone targets, not red zone, end zone! That is a ridiculously high number and well above Cooper Kupp and Davante Adams. 13 of those targets turned into TDs. TDs are his specialty, and we all know that a lot of TDs can boost your fantasy performance. I mean, just ask WR1’s Kupp and Adams. This is the upside opportunity that fantasy managers are craving!
Davis is Still Cheap
With the off-season hype and the production that he is likely to have in 2022, your time to buy is right now. Davis’ dynasty price is currently WR40, which is a massive steal in my opinion. You do not want to be kicking yourself for missing this valuable and one-of-a-kind player.
