Buy Low on Amari Cooper

Amari Cooper was a buy-low candidate last year. And people are still low on him this year. He is currently WR36 and being drafted in the middle of the 7th round of 12-team Superflex leagues. 12 rookies are being drafted ahead of him making him valued at less than a 1st round pick. To me, that’s way too low and I would target him in every league. Buy low on Amari Cooper.

His Past

Amari Cooper was an elite prospect coming out of college. Though he may never have hit the heights of names like Tyreek Hill or Davante Adams, he has been a really good receiver. Ever since his rookie season, he has essentially always been at worst a WR2 and at best a WR1. If he ever finished below WR24, it could be explained by his missing games that year. And it’s not like he misses games often either. He has only missed 6 games in his 8 seasons in the NFL. He hasn’t been the most consistent, but very few WRs are.

His Future

He isn’t young. But he isn’t old either. He’s turning 29, and should still have a few good years left. Even if you are concerned about age, being able to get a WR1/2 at the price of a WR3/4 is a no-brainer. That being said, I project he’ll be a WR1 in 2023. The big concern is how poorly Deshaun Watson played when he returned in the second half of the 2022 season. But we’ve also seen how good Watson has been in his first four seasons. And it’s not surprising he was rusty after a year-and-a-half off with no warm-up period with the team. Maybe he may not be as good as he once was, but I do expect him to return to being a good quarterback. Amari is the clear WR1 on that team and should get a bunch of targets. And we’ve seen how good Deshaun’s WR1s have been for fantasy.

Wrap-Up

There are a few players who tend to always outperform their ADP. Brandin Cooks has been the poster child for that, but lately, Amari Cooper has been falling into that category. At his current price, buy low on Amari Cooper.
