Buy Low Sell High Week 1

Welcome to the first buy low sell high, the week 1 edition! Each week, I will cover guys who offer good value at their current price, and guys who will become devalued and should be traded sooner rather than later. Capitalizing on value starts at the draft, and never stops as the season progresses Let’s get to week 1, shall we!

Mike Gesicki-Buy Low

He is gonna score at least 1 TD, this week, against the Patriots.

Well, well, Durham Smythe is listed as the TE1 for Miami. Congratulations, haters. I have some breaking news for you, take a seat. It doesn’t matter. Gesicki will be in the slot, Gesicki will be in on passing downs, and Gesicki is going to score week 1. His price will go up from here, take that fake news crap about Smythe and capitalize. Mark Andrews didn’t start for the Ravens last year, remember that. Gesicki has the athletic ability you dream about in a TE, and Miami is trending up. I think Flores is a helluva coach. Regardless of the QB, Gesicki is gonna pay off in 2020. So, acquire him at this temporary discount and smile your way to the bank.

Ronald Jones-Sell High

This is Ronald Jones celebrating another Leonard Fournette TD with the fans.

The caveat, his stock may not be high anymore. But if you can find that one person in your league who thinks Jones beats out Fournette, hose them hard, and enjoy the results. Fournette is gonna own this backfield. Jones was pooped on by that signing, and now I want nothing to do with him. There is a good chance nobody in your league does either, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. Regardless, apologies to all you Jones hoarders, Fournette is king now. It would take an injury now.

Drew Lock-Buy Low

It’s simple. When your defense gets worse, your QB inevitably throws more.

The Von Miller injury definitely weakens the Denver defense. They are still solid, but their ability to rush the passer is diminished. This is going to results in more scoring against them. Which will result in Denver having to throw more. Therefore, Lock benefits from the Miller injury. Fantasy is weird sometimes. But Lock is going to creep up my rankings. There are plenty of Lock truthers out there, but if you can get him at a QB2 price, I think he offers intriguing value that should only increase.

DeSean Jackson-Sell High

Jackson responding to someone asking how many games he would play.

Listen, Jackson cannot stay healthy. Accept that. He is built like a cheetah in a world full of lions. Sure he is still fast, but the injury is inevitable. This technically could apply every week he is healthy, which could number 1. If you know someone is interested, get what you can. He could have an impact week 1, maybe even week 2, but he is going to hurt you in the long run, and his injury makes his value nil. Get what you can while you can.

Steven Sims-Buy Low

Sims target share alone should create value.

Sims is gonna see a lot of targets as the WR2 in Washington. That volume is gonna translate to PPR production alongside a near-elite McLaurin. Another guy I love is Gibson, and would include him if buying low was even possible anymore, but the hype has caught up. Hope you got him earlier, he’s gonna be great. But Sims has yet to see his value increase properly, and Washington is gonna be behind. McLaurin can’t do it all, and Sims will step up and help. He is excellent flex depth.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire-Sell High

He is good. But he is weapon 4, at best. The volume won’t be there.

Ok, calm down you CEH truthers! His value could actually be higher next week if he goes off this Thursday. But then I would be even harder on selling. He is not a bell cow, yet he is being drafted like one. There are too many weapons around him. Tyreek, Kelce, Hardman at a minimum are gonna eat touches, and CEH isn’t exactly a goal-line back. Rookie overhype is a real thing. And people are blindly loving CEH right now. I would capitalize. Acquire a back like A Jones, J Jacobs, or M Sanders for him, because he is being ranked that way right now. Seriously, half your league probably wants him bad, let them have him. His upside is immense, but unless you can convince me that he is more talented than all the super-talented guys around him, and as such will get top 3 touches, then I am selling. And you won’t convince me he is better than any of those three I mentioned before.

Three buys, three sells, three licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop. Thanks for reading Buy Low Sell High Week 1. Agree or disagree? I am all ears. Tell me why. You can follow me on Twitter @realryanhicks, and follow @BellyUpFantasy for all the fantasy analysis you will need. To end these articles, I will be doing weekly rhymes about what we saw the previous week. Since week 0 isn’t a thing, I figured I would do an ode to football season starting.

On to week 1 people, it’s finally here.
The most wonderful, wonderful time of the year!
It’s kickoffs and touchdowns, what’s actually a catch?
It’s Andy Reid’s shirts, and Minshew’s mustache!
The lineup needs tinkering, the trades need reviewing,
A fantasy championship is what we’re pursuing.
So buckle your seatbelts, come along for the ride,
Our title is coming, it’s got nowhere to hide.
Good luck to the players, who will be competing,
If you are playing us, luck’s not all you’ll be needing.
