Buy Low Sell High Week 3

Week 3 is upon us. Good lord, what a slew of injuries we had to deal with Week 2. But amongst the carnage, value lies. We have Buy Low Sell High week 1 and 2 in the books, let’s take a look at Week 3 and see if we can take advantage of some unique situations created.

Buy Low- Myles Gaskin

Well, despite Howard and Breida, Gaskin has dominated the carries.

5.4 yards per rush? 90.9% catch rate? 64% snap count? That’s Myles Gaskin in 2020. For some reason even I am unsure of, he is getting the majority of the looks. He hasn’t exactly disappointed, either. More volume will come if he keeps performing, and Miami does have an offense that is capable of exploding. I am all about buying low on Gaskin now, because his price should do nothing but go up in the coming weeks. He isn’t an RB1, but he will add depth to your roster and is startable in flex.

Sell High- Devonta Freeman

Last good season? 2017. Hype regardless? You betcha

Ok, I know Freeman is just 28. I don’t care. He has put mileage on that body. He was incredibly inefficient in 2019. But hey, a worse O line should improve his numbers, right? Say that out loud in front of anyone who knows football, so you can identify yourself as a fool. Freeman likely struggles with health, especially behind that line, and even if he is healthy, what can he actually do at this point? His best days are behind him. And this offense is going to be throwing. A bunch. I know Freeman is capable catching the ball, but Dion Lewis can basically only do that part of the job. If you have Freeman shares and aren’t struggling with RB depth, get the value for him right now before he struggles his first week back.

Buy Low- Antonio Gibson

Like a Comet shooting out of the sky, Gibson has a tail here.

9 rushes in week 1 turned into 13 week 2. Expect that trend to continue. Gibson is no doubt going to be the guy in Washington. He is young and they are easing him in, but before long he is going to be dominating that backfield, and you are going to be happy you got him. Washington has not effectively used him in the passing game. This too shall come. But this weapon is poised to continue his ascension, and if Rivera gets his stuff together, Gibson could flourish as the young back on a young up-and-coming team who are going to play hard til the end. Washington won’t be ahead much, but Gibson can contribute in so many ways and he won’t be cheaper than this moving forward. Take advantage of people believing he won’t be the guy, and get him now.

Sell High- Jordan Reed

Weird, a picture of Reed on the field and not in the tent. Wonder how rare this is.

No. Don’t buy that bs hype. One good game, yea Reed is capable of that. But it’s a water-to-wine miracle he made it through that game in one piece. Don’t bet on that trend continuing. If you can find a chump willing to give you any good player for Reed, hose them hard, and laugh your way away from the IR slot Reed will inevitably be forced into. The only reason I would add him would be to trade him. This offense is a mess, Kittle will be back, and Reed will once again be as valuable as a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest. Or a nun with double-ds. Aka completely useless.

Buy Low- Matthew Stafford

Find the Stafford panic people. Low-ball them. Then used Manscaped to keep balls low and high in tip-top shape.

Ok, overreactors, have a sip of water, and settle down over there. Stafford hasn’t had Golladay all year, the run game has been inconsistent at best, and the defense watches more people run by them than a spectator at a track meet. But, fear not, Stafford truthers! That defense thing is gonna make the Staff infection invade opposing defenses all day long(instantly regretting that nickname!) His 58.7 completion percentage is not normal, and won’t stick. While his stats underwhelm currently, please stop forgetting what the Wizard’s Staff is capable of(that one sucks too!). He is capable of lighting up defenses, just like my Manscaped Lawn Mower 3.0 lights up the area I am cutting for a precision cut, every time. So far, we have only seen half-Staff from Matthew(his week1-2 nickname). Be ready to be fully Staffed come week 3(Eureka!).

Sell High- Cam Newton

No, No, NO! What makes Cam great also makes him vulnerable. The end is inevitable, resistance is futile.

Cam Newton has been a fantasy revelation. He currently rocks a 71.4% completion rate. He also has 26 carries for 122 yards and 4 TDs. That’s fantasy gold. Problem is, we know the injury is on its way. At 31, Cam has taken a beating in his career. There is no fixing that. There is only waiting, and watching, and worrying every time Cam tucks that ball. Do you like Russian Roulette? Or putting your head in a Gator’s mouth? That’s what you are doing here. Sell him. He is going to get hurt being used like this. He only has 1 passing TD, so running is gonna be the major source of his fantasy production. Feel free to hold, but the early bird gets the worm, and the person who waits too long gets to decide who to replace Cam with on the waiver wire.
