This is the 15th of 32 Ceilings and Floors, covering each NFL team’s QBs, RBs, WRs, and TEs. We continue with the AFC West’s Las Vegas Raiders. In case you missed it, here is the breakdown for the Kansas City Chiefs. (Depth Charts courtesy of footballguys.com)
Ceilings and Floors: Quarterback
QB1: Derek Carr
CEILING: Carr gets luckier in 2020 with TDs, as his yardage and completion percentage were good and very good. 36 TDs, 4,400 yards, and Gruden finally calls him the franchise guy.
FLOOR: Carr is beaten out by Mariota in training camp, and his days as a starting-caliber quarterback seem limited. He doesn’t play.
PREDICTION: Carr should win the job, he had a pretty good year last year if you remove TDs from the equation. I think he throws for 30 TDs and has 4,100 yards.
QB2: Marcus Mariota
CEILING: Mariota wins the starting job preseason, throwing for 30 TDs to go along with 3,800 yards. He adds 7 rushing TDs and 450 yards rushing.
FLOOR: He rarely sees the field, used simply as a decoy for Spider Y 2 Banana.
PREDICTION: He is probably gonna get a little usage as a weapon in certain formations, but his fantasy relevance is tied to starting, which I don’t believe he will. Jon Gruden does seem to want a different QB, though.
QB3: Nathan Peterman
CEILING: He has a 3:12 TD:INT ratio. His ceiling is opening Coronas for Gruden during post-game press conferences.
FLOOR: He retires having thrown 4 times as many interceptions as touchdowns.
PREDICTION: I guess he has game experience, which could come in handy for a QB3 in a doomsday scenario. He makes the team.
Ceilings and Floors: Running Back
RB1: Josh Jacobs
CEILING: Jacobs builds off a solid rookie campaign, scoring 13 total TDs to go along with 1,700 yards.
FLOOR: Jacobs seems to have a floor safely in the range of last season. 7 TDs, 1,300 yards.
PREDICTION: Jacobs should continue to improve with a year of NFL experience. I see 11 TDs and 1,500 yards.
RB2: Jalen Richard
CEILING: The ceiling only exists with an injury to Jacobs, where Richard splits duties in an RBBC. 7 total TDs, 1,100 yards
FLOOR: He loses touches to Bowden, and is relegated to a non-factor. 1 TD, 300 yards.
PREDICTION: Richard is a capable backup, but Bowden is going to eat into his touches. 2 TD, 400 yards.
RB3: Lynn Bowden Jr.
CEILING: Bowden vaults himself into RB2 for the Raiders, forming an explosive one-two punch for Oakland now and in the future. 9 total TDs, 1,100 total yards.
FLOOR: Bowden just can’t get enough touches behind workhorse Jacobs, and only scores 3 TDs with 600 total yards.
PREDICTION: This guy is a weapon, and I think Oakland finds ways to use him. 6 TDs, 850 total yards.
RB4: Devontae Booker, RB5: Rod Smith
CEILING: Experienced depth and special teams contributors, offensive non-factors.
FLOOR: Cut casualties due to younger talent sitting ahead of them.
PREDICTION: These guys have the potential to be RB3 in other situations. It wouldn’t shock me if at least one of them is playing for someone else as their RB3 by opening weekend.
Ceilings and Floors: Wide Receiver
WR1: Henry Ruggs III
CEILING: The speedster comes out the gate on fire, torching secondaries while amassing 11 TDs and 1,200 yards receiving.
FLOOR: Ruggs struggles against the opponent’s best corners, and we are looking at another fast Oakland WR who doesn’t pan out. 4 TDs, 600 yards.
PREDICTION: I think Ruggs will get better with more experience, but I do expect a few growing pains in what could be a productive career. 7 TDs, 900 yards.
WR2: Tyrell Williams
CEILING: Williams becomes the primary beneficiary of Ruggs’ ability to open up defenses, scoring 11 TDs along with 1,100 yards
FLOOR: Williams should have some numbers regardless. 3 TDs, 700 yards.
PREDICTION: I like Williams this year more than last, and think he outperforms his expectations. 8 TDs, 800 yards.
WR3: Hunter Renfrow
CEILING: Renfrow thrives in the slot with the two other WRs drawing most of the attention, having a sneaky good 7 TD 900-yard performance.
FLOOR: Renfrow has a floor around 2 TDs and 400 yards, worst-case scenario.
PREDICTION: Renfrow can be low-end depth for your flex, as he should see a lot of snaps. 5 TDs, 650 yards seems very doable.
WR4: Bryan Edwards
CEILING: One of the first three goes down, and Edwards replaces their production as best he can, scoring 6 times and adding 550 yards receiving.
FLOOR: Edwards does not adjust to the NFL game quickly, and spends the majority of the season on the bench.
PREDICTION: Worth a look in dynasty leagues, but for 2020, I am not expecting significant contributions without injuries.
WR5: Nelson Agholor
CEILING: Agholor wins a starting gig, and scores 6 TDs with 700 yards receiving.
FLOOR: He can’t crack the rotation, and is beaten out by one of the guys behind him.
PREDICTION: Agholor has proven able to play in the NFL, his consistency has just been subpar. I could see him scoring 1 TD and adding 200 yards, which is not great in fantasy, in case you were wondering.
WR6: Zay Jones, WR7: Keelan Doss, WR8: Marcell Ateman
CEILING: Well, this is an intriguing group. Any one of them could end up as high as WR3, where I could see some value in them, Jones especially. Still, I’m not wasting a pick on any of them, neither should you.
FLOOR: Every one of them misses the cut on final roster day.
PREDICTION: Predicting anything for guys this far down the depth chart with this many question marks seems silly. I predict they are on the team now, and I am not comfortable doing much more here.
Ceilings and Floors: Tight End
TE1: Darren Waller
CEILING: Waller shines in the spotlight after his breakout year in 2019, scoring 10 TDs along with 1,300 yards.
FLOOR: Waller continues practicing his aversion to the end zone, scoring 3 TDs along with 800 yards.
PREDICTION: Waller can clearly play, but even in his breakout year, he only managed 3 TDs. So I’m gonna say 7 TDs and 1,000 yards for Waller.
TE2: Jason Witten
CEILING: Witten emerges as a solid TE2, catching 5 TDs along with 600 yards.
FLOOR: Witten is going to score at least 2 TDs along with 200 yards.
PREDICTION: Witten as TE depth for Oakland isn’t too shabby. I see 4 TDs and 300 yards in 2020.
TE3: Foster Moreau
CEILING: Moreau had 5 TDs on 21 catches last year. I think his ceiling is 7 TDs and 600 yards if he can beat out Witten for TE2.
FLOOR: Low snap count due to the Witten signing, Moreau languishes on the bench, scoring only 1 TD while adding 150 yards.
PREDICTION: I bet he still scores 3 TDs even with the Witten signing, but he will only have 200 yards.
TE4: Nick O’Leary
CEILING: O’Leary makes the team for special teams depth, and records 2 total catches on the year.
FLOOR: Nick O’Leary is an excellent name for a bartender.
PREDICTION: With apologies to Mr. O’Leary, he is not gonna see much action in 2020, his counting stats will be negligible.
