Ceilings and Floors: Philadelphia Eagles

This is the 19th of 32 Ceilings and Floors, covering each NFL team’s QBs, RBs, WRs, and TEs. We continue with the NFC East, with the Philadelphia Eagles. In case you missed it, here is the breakdown for the New York Giants. (Depth Charts courtesy of footballguys.com)

Ceilings and Floors: Quarterback

QB1: Carson Wentz

CEILING: Wentz becomes fully realized with this healthy offense, throwing for 38 TDs and 4,900 yards.

FLOOR: Wentz loses half his offense again, and only manages 24 TDs and 3,600 yards

PREDICTION: I think Wentz and the Eagles will put up some points in 2020. I’m seeing 32 TDs, 4,200 yards, and a playoff run for Wentz.

QB2: Jalen Hurts

CEILING: Philadelphia weaponizes Hurts, playing him all over the field. He accounts for 8 passing, 6 rushing, and 3 receiving TDs, adding 900 passing yards and 800 scrimmage yards.

FLOOR: Hurts is used primarily as a backup QB, and Wentz stays healthy. 2 passing TDs, 1 rushing TD, 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards.

PREDICTION: Hurts should be used much like New Orleans uses Taysom Hill. I can easily see Hurts having 7 rushing/receiving TDs along with 600 total yards. It will be interesting to see if his fantasy position morphs in 2021, or if he stays QB eligible only.

QB3: Nate Sudfeld, QB4: Kyle Lauletta

CEILING: I don’t care what the Eagles are saying now, these guys are capped at QB3. You don’t pick Hurts that early to have him be QB3, Philly fans will revolt. Their only chance to play involves both Wentz and Hurts being trampled while Philly Fans storm the field.

FLOOR: Their own teammates boo them during practice. It is Philly.

PREDICTION: They never get to touch a game ball. Wentz has missed 0, 3, 5, and 0 games in his first four years. I expect a healthy year from Wentz, and a boring year for these two.

Ceilings and Floors: Running Back

Ceilings and Floors
RB1: Miles Sanders

CEILING: 15 total TDs, 1,900 total yards for Sanders who breaks out in a big way in 2020. The talent is there, the situation is prime, and Sanders takes advantage of it.

FLOOR: 8 total TDs, 1,000 total yards. Solid floor.

PREDICTION: Sanders is primed for a big year. He doesn’t have Howard to worry about, and the offense should be much improved from last year. With the healthy weapons around him, I like him for 11 total TDs and 1,500 total yards. I am high on Sanders.

RB2: Boston Scott

CEILING: 7 TDs, 850 yards, and a capable RB2 to support Sanders.

FLOOR: 3 TDs, 400 yards, and a below-average RB2.

PREDICTION: Scott is going to have a solid year backing up Sanders. He is very useful as both a handcuff for Sanders and a depth flex guy if injuries happen to your starters. I like 5 TDs and 600 yards.

RB3: Elijah Holyfield

CEILING: Holyfield steps up due to injury, and provides moderate production. 6 TDs, 600 yards.

FLOOR: Holyfield does not make the team, I actually like both backs below him better.

PREDICTION: There is a real shot Holyfield does not make the team, and I think at best, he is the RB4 and a special teams contributor.

RB4: Michael Warren, RB5: Corey Clement

CEILING: RB3. If a guy goes down, either of these guys can provide value just over Holyfield.

FLOOR: Holyfield beats them out, and neither see the field offensively.

PREDICTION: I like both these guys’ chances at passing Holyfield. If I were forced to choose, I would say Warren has the edge. Neither will contribute without injuries, but both of these guys are capable RBs.

Ceilings and Floors: Wide Receiver

Ceilings and Floors
WR1: Alshon Jeffery

CEILING: Jeffery stays healthy, and scores 11 TDs along with 1,200 yards. The guy has been fantastic when healthy.

FLOOR: Jeffery battles injuries and struggles even when healthy, scoring 4 TDs along with 500 yards.

PREDICTION: Jeffery has proven to be a stud when on the field, but can he stay on the field? I wish I knew. I’ll predict 8 TDs and 1,000 yards for him.

WR2: DeSean Jackson

CEILING: 8 TDs, 1,000 yards, and plays 16 games. Unlikely but theoretically possible.

FLOOR: 2 TDs, 159 yards, 3 games.

PREDICTION: I think Jackson can still run, but his health concerns are huge. I don’t want anything to do with him, and expect him to fall down the depth chart. I won’t touch him. 2 TDs, 300 yards.

WR3: Jalen Reagor

CEILING: He was my highest rated WR coming into the draft. Yes, number one. His best scenario involves 11 total TDs and 1,300 total yards.

FLOOR: He struggles early, does not adjust to the NFL, and scores 4 total TDs along with 600 total yards.

PREDICTION: He will be WR1 by season’s end. 8 total TDs, 1,000 total yards. Future superstar.

WR4: J.J. Arcega-Whiteside

CEILING: WR3 for Philly, 6 TDs, 700 yards.

FLOOR: He remains behind Jackson, Goodwin passes him, and he is looking for work next season. 0 TD, 300 yards.

PREDICTION: I don’t see a ton of touches going his way, but, he will score 3 TDs along with 400 yards.

WR5: Marquise Goodwin

CEILING: Jackson goes down, Goodwin fills the role of field-stretcher, and scores 7 TDs along with 800 yards.

FLOOR: Goodwin struggles to get touches, and finishes with 0 TDs and 200 yards.

PREDICTION: Jackson is likely to go down, so a flyer on Goodwin makes sense, but his ceiling is pretty limited in general.

WR6: Greg Ward

CEILING: Ward takes advantage of more opportunities due to injuries, and manages 5 TDs along with 600 yards.

FLOOR: Ward doesn’t play again, and Eagles fans rejoice.

PREDICTION: Ward played admirably late last year, but I think Philly has too much talent for him to get many touches. 1 TD, 200 yards.

WR7: John Hightower, WR8: Quez Watkins, WR9: Deontay Burnett, WR10: Robert Davis, WR11: River Cracraft, WR12: Shelton Gibson

CEILING: Hightower and Watkins could potentially see some snaps when Alshon and/or Jackson go down. But production will still be limited in 2020.

FLOOR: The entire Philly WR corps stays healthy, and none of these guys play a down.

PREDICTION: Hightower and Watkins offer upside as stash candidates in dynasty, but redraft will require a ton of injuries for any of them to be rostered.

Ceilings and Floors: Tight End

Ceilings and Floors
TE1: Zach Ertz

CEILING: 11 TDs, 1,200 yards, and an argument for best TE.

FLOOR: 4 TDs, 600 yards, and health issues.

PREDICTION: Ertz has been healthy the last few seasons, and if he continues that trend, I see 8 TDs and 900 yards.

TE2: Dallas Goedert

CEILING: 9 TDs,1,000 yards, and the best TE tandem in the league.

FLOOR: 4 TDs, 500 yards, and a disappointing third season.

PREDICTION: Both of these TEs can be major contributors in fantasy. I see 7 TDs and 700 yards for Goedert.

TE3: Josh Perkins, TE4: Alex Ellis

CEILING: The two TEs above them are elite. They should not play unless injuries force them to. If they do, 2 TDs and 300 yards.

FLOOR: 2 catches, 12 yards, and a whole lot of watching the other guys have big weeks.

PREDICTION: They don’t get more than a handful of snaps, and fantasy stats are irrelevant. The other two are just too good to not play.
