A Dalvin Cook holdout is coming. We’ve seen this year after year and player after player. Two years ago it was Le’Veon Bell. Last year was Ezekiel Elliott. Dalvin Cook will holdout and here is the breakdown of what you should do next with your dynasty team.
1. If you are the owner of Dalvin Cook and do not have Alexander Mattison you need to acquire him.
2. If Alexander Mattison is taken already. Try to work something out with that owner.
3. If he is a Free Agent in your league don’t be afraid to spend up to 20% of your FAAB to go and get your guy.
4. Don’t leave Mike Boone out there either. I wouldn’t spend huge, but a small 2 to3 percent bid would probably be appropriate here.
It is being rumored that Dalvin Cook is looking for somewhere around the same deal that David Johnson got in 2018. $13 million a year is not only a big chunk of change, but it will also be hard for a team as cash strapped as the Vikings are this year. I am not confident this will be all worked out before the season begins. Alexander Mattison will take that lead dog role in this backfield. He is maybe the highest of all the handcuffs to have at the moment. Mike Boone also deserves a flyer for how he played in a couple of games down the stretch.
This offense goes through this running game now. The Stefon Diggs trade especially pointed it in that direction. Coach Mike Zimmer wants to run the ball and play defense and those traits of the team will not change whether Dalvin Cook is there or not.
