D’Andre Swift’s Fantasy Value: Will he Breakout?

D'Andre Swift Fantasy Value

Let me preface this article as I am a huge Detroit Lions fan! But with that being said I don’t drink the kool-aid when projecting D’Andre Swift‘s Fantasy Value. I have had my heart broke plenty by my team so by no means is this a homer article on a sophomore running back with endless “potential”!

It’s been since Reggie Bush in 2013 that a Detroit Lions running back has eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards in a season. Yes, you read that correctly. With that being said, I am here to tell you I don’t see it happening in 2021 either. But instead I do have high expectations for Swift in a new system under a new coaching regime.

How Will This System Impact D’Andre Swift’s Fantasy Value?

D'Andre Swift's Fantasy Value

Anthony Lynn’s offense last year threw to the running back 27.5% of the time, which is a lot according to the NFL standards. I project this number to go up and be close to 30% for the Lions offense and the main beneficiary? D’Andre Swift! This making him a target around RB 10-12 in most PPR leagues.

Yes the addition of Jamaal Williams will cause a slight drop but due to the lack of proven receivers on this team outside of stud Tight End T.J. Hockenson, this is where Swift has the most upside. I project Swift to have a 199-900-6 Rushing and 60-540-3 Receiving season, placing him just inside the top 15 fantasy running backs for 2021!

Along with Williams and still rumblings of the Lions bringing in Todd Gurley, I feel strongly that Swift will be one of the few bright spots on a Lions offense that will surprise many with Goff leading them. Like stated above, Swift and Hockenson are the two Lions to target in this years fantasy drafts. Both have tons of upside and will potentially win you a championship when all the other big names are off the board.
