DeAndre Hopkins used to be considered by many to be the best wide receiver in the league. With a dynasty Superflex ADP of 87.1 on Sleeper, it’s clear the fantasy community does not see him that way. There was a concern he’d be stuck on a terrible team with a backup QB. However, with the news that the Cardinals have cut him, things are looking up for DeAndre Hopkins as a free agent.
The Talent
I still see him as one of the best wide receivers in the league. This isn’t just about real-life talent, it also translates to fantasy numbers. He was the WR10 in PPR leagues in per-game fantasy points. He’s also one of the more consistent fantasy WRs in the league. Additionally, this was in a season not only where his starting QB had a season-ending injury, but it was also in a season where his backup QB had a season-ending injury. But we know he is also someone who has finished as the number 1 WR in fantasy previously. He also regularly finished near the top.
His Future
Right now, the highest betting odds are for Nuke to land with the Bills or Chiefs, with the Jets and Ravens as other likely spots. I cannot imagine him landing with a worse team than where he was at. But he could easily land with a much better one. Seeing as he will get to choose where he goes, I think it’s very likely he will get a good landing spot on a team that is ready to compete for a title.
Wrap-Up
He is currently being drafted as the WR34. I think he could easily become a top-20 WR if he lands with the Chiefs or Bills. Though I doubt he’ll be as cheap with the news, now with DeAndre Hopkins as a free agent, this could be a good time to buy him because his value could explode after he signs somewhere.
