DEF/ST Fantasy Football: DAWGS Or FRAUDS Week 8

Week 8 has just finished, and we will look back at the best and worst DEF/ST Fantasy Football performances of the week. Take note that we are using Sleeper’s PPR scoring system for this analysis.

Golden DAWG: New Orleans 16 FP

1 Interception, 4 Sacks, 0 Points Allowed (Projected: 6.56 FP)

Derek Carr looked hopeless against the Saints’ DEF

The New Orleans Saints shut out the Las Vegas Raiders 24-0. The Raiders came in hot but were halted by this underrated defense. Payton Turner had two sacks, and Tyrann Mathieu had an interception. Josh Jacobs was limited to just 43 rushing yards, and Davante Adams was held to three yards. The Saints have a date with the Ravens in MNF.

Silver DAWG: Cleveland Browns 14 FP

1 Forced Fumble, 1 Fumble Recovery, 1 Interception, 5 Sacks, 7-13 Points Allowed (Projected: 6.41 FP)

Joe Burrow was eaten up by the Browns’ DEF

The Cleveland Browns gave the Bengals a beatdown with a score of 32-13. The offensive line had no answer, as the Browns had five sacks on the night. Myles Garrett led the way with one and a half sacks. Sione Takitaki forced a fumble and helped lead the linebackers and secondary even with numerous players out. The Browns enjoy a bye in Week 9.

Bronze DAWG: Philadelphia Eagles 16 FP

2 Forced Fumbles, 1 Fumble Recovery, 1 Interception, 6 Sacks, 7-13 Points Allowed (Projected: 10.02 FP)

The Steelers’ offense had no answer for the Eagles

Philadelphia’s defense led the way as they continue their undefeated streak. Kenny Pickett was sacked six times as Javon Hargrave led them with two sacks and forced a fumble. The Steelers’ offense was limited to just 158 passing yards. Philadelphia has a matchup with the Texans in Week 9 on TNF.

Golden FRAUD: Las Vegas Raiders 0 FP

(Projected: 7.16 FP)

Alvin Kamara carved up the Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders couldn’t solve Alvin Kamara on offense. The Saints RB led the way with 158 total yards and three TDs. New Orleans had 367 total yards and moved the ball freely this game. Hopefully, the Raiders can bounce back against the Jaguars next week.

Silver FRAUD: Miami Dolphins 1 FP

1 Sack (Projected: 7.16 FP)

TJ Hockenson played well in his last game with the Lions against Miami

Miami allowed 27 points to a Detroit offense that only scored six points combined in the last two weeks. Jamaal Williams rushed in for two TDs. The passing game looked even better as Jared Goff threw for 311 yards. Miami needs to step up its defense as they face the Browns in Week 9.

Bronze FRAUD: Pittsburgh Steelers -1 FP

3 Sacks, 35+ Points Allowed (Projected: 4.78 FP)

AJ Brown ran through the Steelers for three TDs in just the first half.

A.J. Brown had his best game of the season when he had 156 yards and three TDs against the Steelers DEF. Pittsburgh had no answers for the offense of the Eagles, as they allowed 35 points. Their only consolation is that they had three sacks on Jalen Hurts. Look for the Steelers DEF to bounce back against the Saints.
