DFS Plays for Week 3

Kenyan Drake is one of the great DFS plays for week 3

Hello everyone! Jamil is here to run you through some DFS plays for Week 3 of the NFL season. We will cover locks, fades, and some sneaky plays at each position. Without further ado, let’s get started.

Quarterback
Russell Wilson is one of the best DFS plays for week 3
Lock

Russell Wilson: Could it really be anyone else? The self-proclaimed Mr. Unlimited has lived up to his name so far as the hottest player in the league through the first two weeks. Now gets an ailing Dallas defense, at home, in a game with a massive 56.5 point total. He’s the most expensive QB on both FanDuel and DraftKings ($8,700 and $7,300, respectively) but will be worth it.

Fade

Deshaun Watson: Watson has been under constant assault all season thanks to a not so good offensive line. Now he goes on the road to take on TJ Watt and the Steelers. I’m out on Watson this week.

Sleeper

Ryan Tannehill: As a Vikings fan, it pains me to say this, but holy shit they are terrible right now. Tannehill will be without AJ Brown but should have no trouble carving up this awful secondary. Reasonably priced across the board, he allows you to fit in some extra star players at other positions.

Running Back
Lock

Kenyan Drake: Eventually, Drake is going to have a monster game. That comes this week. He is very reasonably priced ($6500 FD, $6000 DK) and has a juicy matchup with a Lions defense fresh off getting demolished by Aaron Jones.

Fade

Nick Chubb: Chubb is a great player, but he gets a nasty Football Team front seven this week and could definitely have some trouble finding some room to run. At $7,800 (FD) and $6,900 (DK), he’s a little too expensive for my taste this week.

Sleeper

Joshua Kelley: Kelley has been seeing a lot of touches behind Austin Ekeler and now gets a matchup against a Panthers defense that has been getting smoked on the ground through two weeks. At $5,900 (FD) and $5,000 (DK) you can’t go wrong.

Wide Receiver
all the receivers from the dallas/seattle game make great dfs plays for week 3
Lock

WRs from the Cowboys/Seahawks game: This might be taking the easy way out, but I don’t really care. This game should be a shootout and I think it would be wise to get at least a piece of it in most of your lineups. In order of preference: Amari Cooper, Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf, CeeDee Lamb, and lastly Michael Gallup. Cooper is the most expensive at $7,000 (FD) and $6,500 (DK) so it isn’t even hard to fit them into lineups. All five of these guys make great DFS plays for Week 3.

Fade

Calvin Ridley: Ridley has been a machine through the first two weeks of the season, going over 100 yards and scoring two touchdowns each week. In week 3 he will do battle with the Bears and might be without Julio Jones to help take attention away from him. At $8,000 (FD) and $7,200 (DK), he is priced too high this week.

Sleeper

Adam Humphries: As previously mentioned, the Vikings secondary is horrendous. Humphries should see a handful of targets out of the slot and have a very good shot at outperforming his dirt-cheap price tag ($4,600 FD, $3,900 DK).

Tight End
Tyler HIgbee is one of the best DFS plays for week 3
Lock

Tyler Higbee: Higbee is fresh off a three-touchdown walloping of the Eagles and now gets a chance to stay hot against the Bills who were torched by Mike Gesicki last week. He is modestly priced on FanDuel at $6,100 but is the most expensive (active) TE on DraftKings at $5,900.

Fade

Noah Fant: Fant has been stellar to start the year and remains pretty cheap on both major sites. Tampa is very tough on TEs, however, and he also gets Jeff Driskel at QB. Granted, he did catch a touchdown from Driskel last week but that does not outweigh the difficult matchup in my mind.

Sleeper

Drew Sample: Sample filled in after C.J. Uzomah went down for the season last week and was promptly fed nine targets from Joe Burrow. The Eagles have not performed well against tight ends this season. If he can get close to nine targets again he will obliterate his $4,800 (FD) and $3,500 (DK) price tags.

Defense
Lock

Indianapolis Colts: I mean, they play the Jets. Do I really need to go into more detail?

Fade

San Francisco 49ers: Another one that doesn’t require much elaborating. The 49ers are beat to hell right now and will almost certainly not live up to the expectations that come with their price tag.

Sleeper

Washington Football Team: The secondary leaves something to be desired, but man, they can rush the passer. They shouldn’t have much trouble harassing Baker Mayfield this week and could force some turnovers.
