DFS Studs and Scrubs: Week 4

Hello everyone! Week 4 of the NFL season is upon us. That means it’s time to start building some DFS lineups and get ready to make some money! I’ll go over some DFS studs and scrubs to help you construct a winning lineup! I will list the FanDuel price first followed by the DraftKings price. Let’s get to it!

Studs

Studs are the higher-priced players you can build your lineup around. Ideally, you want players to score at least three times their price. Keep this in mind when throwing in the players with high price tags.

Quarterback
Patrick Mahomes falls into the studs section of the week 4 DFS studs and scrubs
  1. Russell Wilson ($9,000/$7,800): Wilson is just on another level right now. He’s playing out of his mind and gets a juicy matchup with the Dolphins.
  2. Patrick Mahomes ($8,700/$7,400): Mahomes always has a shot at a massive fantasy day regardless of matchup. Going up against New England may scare some off so you could potentially get him at lower ownership than usual.
  3. Dak Prescott ($8,200/$7,200): Prescott has always played better at home, which is exactly where he finds himself this week against the Browns. He should have no trouble filling the stat sheet this week.
Running Backs
Dalvin cook falls into the studs category of DFS studs and scrubs
  1. Alvin Kamara ($8,800/$8,000): This one is simple. Kamara is too cheap for the way he has been producing and is in a smash spot against the Lions. The only issue is he will be extremely popular, but for good reason.
  2. Dalvin Cook ($8,700/$7,600): If the Vikings want to win a game they need to feed Dalvin Cook. The Texans are not an imposing matchup and he should have every opportunity to produce.
  3. Kenyan Drake ($7,000/$6,000): Yes, Drake burned a lot of people last week. I’m willing to give him another shot though. Carolina is very generous to opposing running backs and he has a very fair price. I do like him more on DraftKings.
Wide Receivers
  1. Tyler Lockett ($7,500/$7,000): One of the prime beneficiaries of Russell Wilson’s dominance, Lockett should be in for another big day against the Dolphins.
  2. DeVante Parker ($6,500/$5,700): As good as Seattle has been on offense, they’ve been equally as bad on defense. They are hemorrhaging points to wide receivers and this week should be no different. Parker is a good play on both sites but for me, he’s a lock on DraftKings at this price point.
  3. Will Fuller ($6,100/$5,900): Everyone knows playing Fuller is a risk, but this seems like a good week for a blowup. The Vikings secondary is unimpressive at best and now will be playing with minimal prep time after their COVID scare.
Tight Ends
  1. Mike Gesicki ($5,700/$5,100): Gesicki is, for all intents and purposes, a glorified slot receiver. That should help him this week as Seattle gives up a ton of points to receivers.
  2. T.J. Hockenson ($5,400/$4,800): The Saints are pretty vulnerable across the middle of the field. With the outside receivers doing battle with Marshon Lattimore and pass interference machine Janoris Jenkins, Hock should find some room to work.

Scrubs

This wouldn’t be a DFS studs and scrubs article without some scrubs would it? Scrubs are not necessarily bad players, just lower priced players used to fill out your lineup. Think of this as a bargain bin section. We’re looking for upside along with a good price.

  1. Ryan Fitzpatrick ($7,100/$5,400): Seattle is going to score a lot of points, Miami will have no choice but to unleash a little Fitzmagic on them to try to keep up. At $5,400 on DK he is way too cheap.
  2. Gus Edwards ($4,600/$4,000): The Gus Bus gets most of his run after the Ravens have already hammered their opponent. There is a good chance that is early this week against the lowly Football Team. Obviously, a GPP play only.
  3. Myles Gaskin ($5,400/$5,000): Gaskin showed he is more than capable as a receiver last week and should have plenty of opportunities to show off his skills again this week with the Dolphins most likely playing from behind a lot.
  4. Brandin Cooks ($5,300/$4,500): The same reasons for recommending Will Fuller can be applied here too. At least one of them should have a big game and there is definitely room for both to produce.
  5. Zach Pascal ($5,000/$4,400): The Colts receiving corps is crippled at the moment. Pascal should see a decent amount of targets behind T.Y. Hilton and Mo Alie-Cox.
  6. Justin Watson ($4,600/$3,400): With Tampa missing Chris Godwin, Watson should man the slot for known slot-lover Tom Brady this week. The Chargers will be without Chris Harris Jr. so he should have more opportunity than he normally would in this matchup.
