Welcome to my Top 10 Dynasty TE. Like I have said in previous articles, the TE landscape is changing rapidly. We are out with the old and in with the new generation of TE. There has also been a new league type that offers 1.5-2 points per TE reception. I hope you enjoy my Top 10 Dynasty TE rankings and be sure to go back and check out who I ranked previously. 10. T.J. Hockenson

I can see the hate already on putting Hockenson at #10, but in reality, he could finish even higher. Hockenson was a 1st round pick last year and put up his best game week 1 against the Cards. However, don’t forget, the Cards were the worst team against TE during the 2019 season. However, Hock was set back in his production due to his injury and didn’t take off like he was supposed to.

For 2020, with a healthy Matthew Stafford and being the second-best receiving option on the team, Hock could potentially blow up. Also, his value right now is relatively low which helps with managing trades. Don’t hold your breath people, get the value when it is still there.

9. Darren Waller

Waller had an excellent 2019 season and for those who paid attention to fantasy experts during the off-season, Waller was on your lineup. Waller was the Raiders’ best receiving option and it wasn’t even close. The 27-year-old seemed to have big games here and there, but the reason for his monster games was due to the fact Renfrow was inactive. Waller was the only underneath option when Renfrow wasn’t there and when he was there, the split between the two evened their fantasy output. With this being said, the Raiders are in dire need of a #1 receiver and are projected to take one in the draft. I think this will hurt Waller’s value and is why I have him at #9 for the dynasty TE rankings.

8. Noah Fant

Noah Fant had an above-average rookie season compared to other players’ first season. He had two games above 100 yards receiving which made fantasy owners glad they picked him off the waiver wire. But down the stretch of his season it was obvious he was becoming an asset to the broncos. With a full offseason with Drew Lock, Fant should be able to build some chemistry. If the Broncos bring in another WR, their passing attack should be fairly balanced.

Fant will be able to work in the middle of the field. Also, a big part of Fant’s game is vertical routes which he should see more of in 2020. For 2020, he should take the next step up with a competent QB under center. Fant goes around the 5th to 6th round in dynasty startups. Grabbing Fant there and pairing him with someone from my 20-11 list is a great approach. For these reasons is why I have Fant at my TE #8 for dynasty leagues.

7. Evan Engram

It hurts me to put Engram at #7 on this list. He is one of the most talented young TE in this league, but he simply can’t stay on the field. Over the last 2 seasons, he has only played in 19 games and missed 8 games in 2019. Engram is one of the best TE in this league and could make a huge difference for Daniel ones and the Giants. Many will disagree with having Engram at 7 and say he should be higher, and I would agree.

If Engram comes into 2020 healthy and plays a full season, I would expect him to be a Top 5 dynasty TE next offseason. Daniel Jones will continue to improve and grow. I would recommend if you own Engram in dynasty leagues that you grab Kaden Smith as well. Engram goes in the 5th-6th round of dynasty leagues and could have a big year in 2020 barring injury.

6. Hunter Henry

Hunter Henry went down Week 1 with a knee fracture that kept him out until Week 6. In his first game back, Henry exploded for 100 receiving yards and 2 scores. I think a lot of people are down in regards to the Chargers offense moving forward. However, if you watched a Chargers game in 2019, Philip Rivers is quite bad. Between Austin Ekeler, Keenan Allen, and Mike Williams there are quite a few targets to spread around. The Chargers will either go forward with Tyrod Taylor or a Rookie QB.

Whether it is Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert, I hope they go with a young gun. I don’t ever think Henry will be an 80 catch guy. However, I do believe 60 catches and 8 TD is in his realm. Without Melvin Gordon, they may look to pass more in the red zone and even with limited work in 2019, Henry grabbed 5 scores. Henry has some uncertainty at the QB position right now but he is one of my favorite dynasty TE targets.

5. Zach Ertz

Zach Ertz was sneaky good in 2019. Despite many people believing he had a poor year, he still had 88 catches for over 900 yards and 6 TD. I have been buying Ertz in every dynasty league that I am in. Yes, he is 29 years old but so is Travis Kelce. Ertz has been very consistent in the TE landscape over the last 6 seasons. He has been considered a Top 5 TE going into most seasons and he was a Top 3 TE going into 2019. Doug Pederson and the Eagles love to use 12 personnel with Ertz and Dallas Goedert. Yes, Goedert is a rising star but that doesn’t kill Ertz production.

They both are more productive when they are both on the field. Carson Wentz has been hyped up for a stellar season going into both the 2018 and 2019 season. I think 2020 is Wentz’s time to shine. He will have to stay healthy and show that he is a premier QB in this league. The Eagles will address WR in the draft, but Ertz and Goedert are still some of the best pass-catchers in this offense. If you are win-now mode, Ertz can be bought fairly cheap and will take you far in the fantasy playoffs.

4. Austin Hooper

Austin Hooper has gotten better each season for the last 4 years. Last season with the Falcons, Hooper had 75 catches for 787 yards and 6 TD. Also, take into consideration that he also missed 3 games in 2019, his stats could have been much better. Well, his play earned him some money. Hooper signed with the Cleveland Browns for $44 million, with $23 million guaranteed. Baker Mayfield will welcome in his new fancy pass catchers with open arms. The Browns offense has nowhere to go but up.

They are loaded with talent between Odell Beckham , Jarvis Landry, and Nick Chubb. I would believe that Cleveland will look to play more 12 personnel with Hooper and David Njoku. Hooper should remain a consistent week to week fantasy player. Austin will be 25 going into the season and there is reason to believe that he is just entering his prime. Hooper isn’t the first choice for me in my dynasty leagues but I don’t fault anyone for wanting to own him.

3. Mark Andrews

Mark Andrews was my breakout candidate for TE going into 2019. And yes, I was sure right. Andrews went nuclear in 2019 with 852 receiving yards and 10 TD. When Lamar Jackson passed the ball, Andrews was usually the target. Andrews plays a huge role in the middle of the field for the Ravens. As teams learn how to stop the rushing attack of Lamar Jackson and Mark Ingram, Andrews will continue to shine in the passing game. Lamar will look early and often at Andrews in 2020. I do not doubt that he could have close to 10 scores again in 2020.

I also think that he will eclipse 1,000 yards receiving in 2020. The Ravens use Andrews in special ways by using unique routes and motioning him around pre-snap. With Hurst in Atlanta, Andrews will need to stay on the field more. Often in 2019, Hurst was the blocking TE and Andrews was the pass catcher and split field time. I would much rather spend up a round or two for Andrews than to take Austin Hooper. Andrews is one of the bright and upcoming superstars in this league and is a great dynasty TE for you to own.

2. Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce still had a very good 2019 campaign despite Patrick Mahomes missing games due to injury. Kelce’s production took a little hit in 2019 and didn’t have the same godly numbers he had in 2018. However, week after week, Kelce is one of the most consistent fantasy TE in this league. Travis Kelce has been a household name for most people over the last 4 seasons.

If you are in the win-now mode, Travis Kelce is a great option for you at TE. I traded for Kelce last year by giving up Waller and a 2nd, and hey it worked out for me. Travis Kelce will return closer to 8-9 TD then the 5 he scored in 2019. When you play with the best QB in the NFL, you are going to do well fantasy-wise. Kelce goes in the late 2nd to 3rd round in dynasty leagues. This is right where I would like to take him as he leads me to a fantasy championship.

1. George Kittle

George Kittle is the overall best TE in the league and it’s not even close. Kittle can catch, run, block, and sing–you name it and is the engine of the 49ers offense. Kittle has a contract coming up here soon and is expected to be the highest-paid TE in NFL history, and rightfully so. George Kittle is also at prime age right now at 26 so these next couple of years should be the best of his career. The only exception you could make for the #1 spot here is Kelce, but age is a big reason he doesn’t crack it. Also, Kittle has so many other things going for him as his ceiling is higher than Kelce. As a Kittle owner, I am thrilled to have him locked down for years to come. Kittle tops my Top Dynasty TE list.
