Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire: Week 10

Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire: Week 10 is here! With injuries once again piling up along with makeup games being played (Wizards play five games this week?!?!), here are some good suggestions to help your team navigate this crazy season. We have a mixture of veterans starting to get their groove, a couple of rookies trying to make the most out of their situations, and obviously Wizards players.

As always, do not feel obligated to pick up anyone if you do not have room on your roster. I will be providing weekly waiver wire pickup suggestions that are mainly for nine-category leagues. The picks are based on players being rostered in less than 30-percent of fantasy basketball teams. Here are some waiver wire pickups for Week 10.

PG: Patrick Beverley, LAC (WAS, @MEM, @MEM, @MIL)

Patrick Beverley has been trying to get up to speed ever since he came back from injury. It looks like he’s getting back to normal. This past week Beverley averaged 10 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 three-pointers made, 1 steal, and 1 block while shooting 63-percent from the field. The numbers might not pop out at you, but the key is his minutes are slowly increasing every game. He does not hurt you in any category and could provide good end-of-bench value considering the Clippers play four games this upcoming week.

PG: Saben Lee, DET (@ORL, @NO, SAC, NY)

Delon Wright is injured and will be out for the next couple weeks. Dennis Smith Jr. seems to be the obvious choice to benefit as the new starter, but my money is on the rookie, Saben Lee. Lee was very productive in extended minutes compared to Smith in the Pistons’ first game without Wright. Lee had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals while shooting 4 of 7 from the field and playing 32 minutes off the bench. The point guard situation will be something to monitor in their next game. The Pistons play four games this week and I would not be surprised to see them give Lee a chance to prove he can play with huge minutes.

SG: Josh Hart, NO (DET, @SA, @MIL)

Josh Hart is slowly becoming incredibly productive. This past week Hart averaged 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.5 three-pointers made while shooting 50-percent from the field. He has basically been playing starter minutes off the bench. That will not change and could possibly even increase if the Pelicans decide to do some roster changes ahead of the trade deadline. Yes, the Pelicans only have three games this week, but if you can afford the light schedule, Josh Hart is a great pickup for now and beyond.

SF: Jae’Sean Tate, HOU (CHI, @CLE, @TOR, MEM)

We still do not know if Demarcus Cousins is officially leaving the Rockets, but Jae’Sean Tate will get an extended look regardless if Cousins stays. Tate stands to benefit a ton as the rookie will continue to play a lot. This past week the Rockets only had two games. Tate averaged 18.5 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 three-pointers made while shooting 65-percent from the field. He is a fixture in the starting lineup and will most likely stay there while the Rockets use this season to evaluate their roster. The Rockets play four games this week, and Tate will be given ample amount of time to produce. Tate is a must-own out of anyone on this list for the week.

PF: Davis Bertans, WAS (@LAL, @LAC, @DEN, MIN, @BOS)

Davis Bertans is finally starting to play extended minutes and the Wizards are starting to win. This past week Bertans averaged 19.7 points, 4 rebounds, and 5.3 three-pointers made while shooting 61-percent from the field. The Wizards will be playing an unprecedented five games this week, which should result in plenty of production from Bertans. Bertans has the potential to win you the three-pointers made category all on his own this week. If you need three-pointers made, pick him up before it’s too late.

C: Robin Lopez, WAS (@LAL, @LAC, @DEN, MIN, @BOS)

Like Bertans, Robin Lopez will have five games this upcoming week. Even though he comes off the bench, Lopez is still much more trustworthy than the starter, Mo Wagner. This past week Lopez averaged 10.3 points and 6 rebounds while shooting 53-percent from the field. Lopez does not have a huge ceiling, but I’ll reiterate that he has five games this week. If you need solid big man production for just this week, you can do a whole lot worse.
