Fantasy Football Fallout: Tyreek Hill To Miami

Tyreek Hill has been traded to the Miami Dolphins after failing to come to a contract agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs. This move has huge fantasy implications moving forward. For dynasty owners, there are a lot of questions that need to be answered. Now, for fantasy football owners looking at the 2022 fantasy football season they are looking to see what this trade could do for the outlook of fantasy football. With that being said here is my fantasy football fallout after the Tyreek Hill trade.

Tyreek Hill

Well the first player we have to talk about is none other than Tyreek Hill. Hill has had Mahomes throwing him the football the majority of his career. He has been labeled as one of the best all-around wide receivers in all of football. Looking at Hill’s numbers without Mahomes it isn’t terrible, but then again it was his first two seasons in the league. Hill had 133 receptions to go along with 1,765 receiving yards and 20 total touchdowns.

Tyreek was a special teams guy at first, but he bursted onto the scene really when Mahomes was throwing him the football. The big question mark is the quarterback play for the Dolphins. If Tua can get Hill the football, he will make the plays. However, that is a big if in my honest opinion. Tyreek’s fantasy value right now takes a little bit of a hit. At the end of the day, Hill is a solid receiver and I think his dynasty value trends downward a little bit. However, for this upcoming season Hill will be one of the first wide receivers that come off the board.

Jaylen Waddle

Jaylen Waddle is the one who makes out the most from this trade. Everybody thinks Waddle’s fantasy value takes a hit, but I think his stock is going through the roof right now. Tyreek Hill’s presence on the field opens up so much field for Waddle. Last season as the top wide receiver on the Dolphins, he managed to have 104 receptions to go along with 1,015 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns. Those numbers are going to be so much higher now that the Dolphins have Tyreek Hill.

I strongly believe that Jaylen Waddle is going to finish in the top five in fantasy football next season. His ADP should be in the top three rounds, if you get him any later that is a Cooper Kupp level steal in my honest opinion. Dynasty wise, Waddle should be a top fifteen pick in a non Super Flex league. His value goes up year after year and if you are starting a dynasty league now, I would be getting as many shares of him as I can get. Jaylen Waddle’s fantasy value is going to be through the roof.

Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce is the biggest loser in this trade that took place today. Kelce’s numbers in games without Tyreek Hill isn’t the numbers that we are use to seeing out of him. In the five games that Kelce has played without Tyreek Hill, he has 25 receptions to go along with 351 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. Kelce is 32 years old and has a few seasons left of being a top tight end. I think defenses will key in more on Kelce and he will get the double coverage that Tyreek got in the past.

Kelce is still a top tight end in the NFL no doubt about it. However, I do think that Kelce’s fantasy value takes a big hit. Last season he was labeled as a no doubter first round selection. This season I really don’t know if he will be drafted within the first three rounds of the draft. Dynasty wise, Kelce’s value doesn’t change much. His age is a key factor for his value in dynasty leagues. No matter who is on the field, he has good value in dynasty leagues. In re-draft leagues, I think Kelce isn’t going to go as high as he has in year’s past due to this trade.

Juju Smith-Schuster

Juju Smith-Schuster signed a one year deal with the Chiefs to prove that he still got it after being injured last season. He looked like he was going to be a good complimentary piece for Tyreek and Travis Kelce. Now that Tyreek is gone, Juju’s target share goes up and so does his fantasy value. Fantasy owners are going to be weary of Juju especially with him coming off of injury a season ago. Smith-Schuster has a better quarterback and his target share will be as high as it was during his career year his sophomore season.

Looking forward in re-draft leagues, I think Juju will be a solid flex option this season. Huge WR2 upside for sure, but I don’t think he goes higher than that. Dynasty is tough, because you don’t know where he plays next season and who his quarterback will be. Look to get some Juju shares in all re-draft leagues, but I don’t like his value in dynasty at the moment.

The Quarterbacks

Patrick Mahomes is interesting because of the fact that we haven’t seen much of him without Tyreek in his NFL career. I think Mahomes is still a QB1 in fantasy football and is for sure a solid option in dynasty. He still has a good offensive line that will help give him time to throw the football. People think without Tyreek, his value takes a little bit of a hit because he can’t just throw the football up and say Tyreek will get there. I think this year we will see how great of a football mind that Mahomes actually has. Look for Mahomes to showcase this year.

Tua is an interesting one for me this season in fantasy football. He has looked alright in his first two seasons, but the Dolphins have built around him and he needs to show why he was taken where he was in the NFL Draft. Waddle and Hill are two talented wide receivers and I think there is no way that he can mess them up right? Re-draft leagues, Tua’s value in my opinion is QB2 at the moment. If he takes steps forward this season, he will be a must play quarterback. I have to see it first before I can give him a QB1 label.

Wrap-Up

I think there were some winners and there were for sure some losers. However, I think that it will be weird seeing Tyreek Hill in a uniform that isn’t the Kansas City Chiefs. This season will be an interesting one for sure, but people will be focusing on how this trade ended up playing out on both sides.
