Fantasy Football Week 8 Sleepers & Streamers

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

Week 8 is upon us, and the fantasy season is heading toward the home stretch. These next few weeks are critical for playoff pushes and securing playoff byes. These are the weeks a fantasy manager can not slip up. For anyone in a crunch and in need of a fill-in player for this week, we have you covered. Below are this week’s Sleepers and Streamers!

The Difference Between Sleepers and Streamers in Fantasy Football

Sleepers are players that will continue to stay on your roster, perhaps in a backup or handcuff role. They are poised to have a big week based on matchup or injury. On the other hand, streamers are players that will be relevant only for this week. They are a quick pick-up and drop, hopefully with a big fantasy week in between.

Nico Collins – Houston Texans WR

This year was supposed to be Nico Collins’ breakout. So far, he’s been consistent but not spectacular. He has a chance this week to fix that. The Texans play the Titans, who rank 30th in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers. Just last week, Parris Campbell was able to catch 10 balls for 70 yards and a touchdown against the Titans. Look for Collins to be targeted often, which could lead to his biggest game this season. Streamer

Romeo Doubs – Green Bay Packers WR

The Packers are trying to right the ship. It hasn’t been easy, especially when they have no true number one wideout, and the injuries keep piling up. This week, Allen Lazard is doubtful to play. They also play against Buffalo’s number one fantasy pass defense. It won’t be an easy day for Romeo Doubs, but there is literally no one else on the Packers that can catch balls. Doubs should be targeted often out of necessity. Sleeper

Alec Pierce – Indianapolis Colts WR

Pierce was on a roll for a few weeks until he put up a stinker of three catches for 37 yards in Week 7. This week he gets an easier matchup against the Commanders, who have been trending toward the bottom of the league in fantasy points allowed. Washington has been average against wide receivers the past three weeks, but that was against the Titans, Bears, and Packers. Three teams that have struggled with wide receiver play all season. Against a Colts team with actual quality wide receivers, the Commanders’ secondary will be in for a long day. Hopefully, Pierce can mesh well with new Colts starter Sam Ehlinger for a big week. Sleeper

Tre’Quan Smith – New Orleans Saints WR

The Saints receiving core has been banged up all season. Going into Week 8, Michael Thomas, Jarvis LandryAdam Trautman, and Juwan Johnson are all listed as doubtful or questionable. Aside from Chris Olave, the Saints are thin at wide receiver. That gives Smith a chance to step up. Last week, when the Saints were in a similar position, he posted a stat line of five catches for 59 yards. The Saints also have a favorable matchup against the Raiders, who hover around the 24-26 range in fantasy points allowed against wide receivers. Streamer

Rondale Moore – Arizona Cardinals WR

Rondale Moore

The preseason fantasy sleeper has performed well but still hasn’t had a breakout game. However, before Week 7, his targets increased from five to eight to 10. Then, in Week 7, he reverted to only two targets. It may have been because the game was out of hand early, so it’s unlikely to happen again. Hollywood Brown is still out, which means Moore has the chance to receive all the looks after DeAndre Hopkins. Sleeper

Malik Davis – Dallas Cowboys RB

Ezekiel Elliott is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game. He is currently dealing with an MCL sprain. Zeke’s absence will allow Tony Pollard to start, and behind him is Malik Davis. The Cowboys like to run a two running back system, and it’s unclear if Pollard will receive 25-30 carries. Davis would be next in line to receive some handoffs and potentially make an impact. This is the riskiest of all the streamers/sleepers, but if you’re desperate, Davis is worth a look. Streamer
