Five Quarterbacks You Shouldn’t Pass On

Quarterback is the highest scoring position in fantasy football, and you need to make sure you are grabbing one with upside. If you are not someone who goes for the top five QBs and decide to “kick the can” on the quarterback position. Then this article is for you; I have written about five QBs that are either being overlooked, unproven, or just forgotten. These QBs, though, can easily finish higher than their ADP tiers. So like the title says, don’t pass on these five quarterbacks.

Trey Lance

Lance will get his opportunity to take over the 49ers offense this year from Jimmy Garoppolo. This is a big year for Lance to prove he’s worth the three first-round picks given up for him. Lance is an unknown, with people questioning his accuracy and ability as a quarterback overall. One thing we learned during this training camp is that Lance will have good days and bad days. We hope his rushing ability can save his bad passing performances. This year’s worst-case scenario for Lance is 2021 Jalen Hurts, with his coach and talent around him. I would find it unlikely that he completely drops the ball this year. If I could say one thing that Lance showed in the preseason was his ability to take what’s given to him. In two games, he had a 75% completion percentage, a sign of positive progression. It’s hard for people to grasp ADP jump of Lance due to the lack of starts. Lance offers everything Hurts offered last year, but with a better arm, a better coach, and better weapons. So I like it might be a hot take, but Trey Lance will finish in the top five this year.

Dak Prescott

Jon Machota -The Dallas Morning News

Dak is going into 2022 with an offense with questions all over the board. The offense traded Amari Cooper to the Browns this offseason, Michael Gallup is expected to miss sometimes coming off his ACL surgery, and just recently, Tyron Smith has gone down with a torn hamstring. This puts the team in a position to be incredibly reliant on the play of Dak. He needs to play like the MVP this year for the Cowboys to be in the playoff picture. Also, with the NFC East adding AJ Brown and Carson Wentz into the picture, we can assume that the Eagles and Commanders will be better this year. Currently, Prescott sits at QB10 on FantasyPros’ up-to-date ECR, this seems disrespectful for a man who broke the Cowboys single season TD record (37). According to Jon Machota of the Athletic, “The plan is for Dak Prescott to have more opportunities to get outside of the pocket and run the ball this season.” With the state of this line and an aging Ezekiel Elliot, I would not be surprised to see Dak take more goal-line opportunities. Dak will be top five this year, and you can get him at a top 10 discount.

Trevor Lawrence

Lawrence has finally kicked his Urban Meyer problem to the curb. Make fun of the Jaguars all you want they went out and got weapons and protection for their young quarterback. Christian Kirk, Evan Engram, and Zay Jones will look to help T-Law become the best version we’ve seen. On the line, he has an upgraded guard in Brandon Scherff and brought back Cam Robinson on a long-term deal. This year Lawrence will have a weapon at each level, not to mention this team will be playing from behind most of the time. So Lawrence will be passing the ball a lot, and I think he’ll have two lockdown chain movers in Engram and Kirk, with Marvin Jones Jr taking the top off defenses. Look out for T-Law this year as he will finally get some talent to help him out.

Kirk Cousins

Jeff Diamond-Sporting News

Cousins is my Matthew Stafford for 2022, he’s got so much potential this year under Kevin O’Connell. Listen, when you are in Mike Zimmer’s “offense” and a perennial 4,000-yard and 30-TD thrower, then you are Kirk Cousins. So now you’re telling me he will be in a pass-friendly offense; sign me up. The problem is that Cousins has never been a particularly sexy pick, but he’s consistent. There’s a really solid chance he goes for 5,000 yards and 40 TDs this year. The one thing that put Stafford over last year was the emergence of an elite receiver. So enter Justin Jefferson, who has tallied 3,016 yards and 17 TDs in his first two seasons in the league. Then you got the resurgent Adam Thielen, who has become a monster in the red zone for the past two years, catching 19 of 21 targets and scoring 17 TDs inside the 10-yard line. The Vikings also have Irv Smith Jr and KJ Osborn, who should shine in a more pass-heavy offense. Look for Cousins to be a good QB1  in single QB drafts and an elite option in Superflex leagues.

Davis Mills

Mills is an interesting choice this year because he’s in a situation where he’ll be the unquestioned starter in 2022. Last year he was up and down after having an 87-yard,  four interception game against the Bills. Mills would bounce back with a 312-yard and three-touchdown performance against the Patriots. Mills had a good season with a terrible team, throwing for 300 yards in four out of 11 starts. This year Mills will have Brandin Cooks back, and the Texans added running back Dameon Pierce and guard Kenyon Green. Mixed with emerging receiving threats Brevin Jordan and Nico Collins, Mill looks like a very good option as a QB3 in Superflex leagues.

Wrap Up

Happy drafting season, everyone. The best words of advice I could give you before your upcoming draft. It simply takes the best value. The guys in this article are capable of breaking out this year and offer higher upside per their cost.
