Four Basketball Picks for Super Tuesday

As we get into the long , cold days of Winter, college basketball and the NBA is starting to heat up. We only have three NBA games going on tonight so my NBA pick will consists of all three games into a three team, money line parlay. We do have six ranked teams in college basketball action tonight though. So it is very much as ESPN would call it, a Super Tuesday.

Kentucky Versus Alabama (-6.5)

John Petty Jr.: 3 facts about the Alabama basketball guard
Alabama guard, John Petty Jr.

Looking at this game, I just had to pull the trigger. Alabama has played extremely well this season, working their way up to number nine in the AP rankings. Not only are they they 13-3 on the season, but they’re also undefeated in the SEC at 8-0. Alabama has walked through the SEC schedule so far and I don’t see them being challenged tonight. The Crimson Tide played Kentucky in Lexington on January 12th and the Crimson Tide won by 20. I just don’t see it being close again. I think that the only reason that this spread isn’t bigger is because its “Kentucky”. If Alabama was hosting a team that was 5-9 that wasn’t Kentucky, the spread would be much bigger. This is Coach Cal’s worst Wildcats team by far. The Wildcats have an even points differential compared to Alabama’s +11.2. The duo of guard, John Petty Jr. (14.1 PPG) and forward, Herb Jones (12.9 PPG, 5.7 RPG) is going to propel the Tide to a double digit win in Tuscaloosa.

The Pick: Alabama -6.5

North Carolina Versus Pittsburgh (+3.5)

With this pick, its all about the statistics. The Pitt Panthers might be the most underrated team in the country. Pitt this season is 8-3 overall and 4-2 in the ACC. The most important statistic is that the Panthers are 7-4 ATS. North Carolina on the other hand, hasn’t had a great season for being “North Carolina”. The Tarheels are 10-5 overall and 5-3 in the ACC. Again, the most important statistic is their ATS record at 5-10. North Carolina is one of the worst teams in the nation at covering the spread and I can possibly see the wrong team being favored in this matchup. Forward, Justin Champagnie (19.9 PPG, 12.4 RPG) and the Panthers could have the Tarheels on upset alert. Take the home underdog.

The Pick: Pitt (+3.5)

Butler Versus UConn Over 122.5

While looking at lines this morning, I was very confused about this line. I know both of these teams aren’t the highest scoring teams, but they aren’t the lowest scoring teams either. If this was the line on the last five games of both teams, the over would be 6-4. With both of their points per game combined, its added up to 135 points, which is 13 points over tonight’s line. The line is just too small and life’s too short to bet the under.

The Pick: Over 122.5

NBA Moneyline Parlay

With only three NBA games tonight, we are making a moneyline parlay. We start in Atlanta, where the Clippers travel to take on a young Hawks team. I would usually be all over the Clippers, but due to Covid contact tracing, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are both out tonight. So I’m riding with the young Hawks due to the two All-stars being out.

The next game is in Houston, with John Wall and Russell Westbrook facing off against their former teams. The Wizards just played their first game in two weeks on Sunday and lost by 20 to the Spurs. I don’t see a big difference here with Wall, Oladipo and Gordon looking to play their first game together since the trade with the Pacers. Take the Rockets in Houston against the rusty Wizards.

The last leg of the parlay is in Salt Lake City. The hottest team in the NBA, The Utah Jazz, take on the pesky New York Knicks. The Jazz are on a eight game winning streak and haven’t lost at home since December 31st. Take the Jazz.

The Pick: Hawks, Rockets & Jazz ML Parlay +175
