The first full slate back of MLB games since the all-star break is here. Race to the postseason is upon us and it starts off with a full Friday slate of games. I have three best bets for this evening’s slate. One is a first five inning bet which means we only care about the first five innings of the game. The other bet is a full game bet which takes place throughout the entire game. With that being said here are today’s three best bets by yours truly.
Toronto Blue Jays vs Boston Red Sox
Tonight the Blue Jays head to Fenway Park to start a three game series against the Boston Red Sox. On the bump tonight we have Kevin Gausman vs Nathan Eovaldi. These two teams have already faced ten times this season, with the Jays up on the season series 7 to 3. Both teams are looking to try and end skids as well as Toronto has lost four straight road games and Boston has lost seven out of their last ten games overall.
Kevin Gausman has owned the Red Sox this season. In three starts, he is 2-0 with a 0.43 ERA against Boston. Gausman has also had 8+ strikeouts in every start against the Red Sox this year as well. For Eovaldi he missed sometime this season, but he has been a much better road pitcher than when he pitches at Fenway. At home, Eovaldi is 1-2 with a 4.67 ERA in five starts, while on the road he is 3-0 with a 2.56 ERA on the road this year. In two start vs Toronto this year, Eovaldi has a 2.31 ERA and has two no decisions in each game.
I really like Toronto’s bats tonight against Eovaldi, plus if this turns into a pitching duel once it goes to the bullpen the advantage is definitely in Toronto’s favor.
Best Bet: Toronto -118
Cleveland Guardians vs Chicago White Sox
We got an AL Central divisional showdown with the Guardians taking on the White Sox. Cal Quantrill vs Lucas Giolito is our pitching matchup for this evening’s matchup. These teams have split the last ten meetings between one another. Cal Quantrill is 1-5 with a 4.66 ERA in his seven road starts this season. In two starts this season against the White Sox he is 1-1 with a 5.84 ERA. Those numbers aren’t great for the Guardians in the series opener.
Meanwhile, Lucas Giolito is 2-3 with a 5.30 ERA at home in six starts this season. Giolito against the Guardians has been great this season. He is 2-0 with a 0.68 ERA in his two starts against the Guardians this season. The numbers look heavy in the White Sox favor, but let’s look at some trends for tonight.
Chicago has won five out of their last six heading into the all-star break, while the Guardians won five out of their last seven going into the all-star break as well. Cleveland is 1-7 straight up in their last 8 road games. The under has hit in four out of the last five meetings between these two sides.
Best Bet: F5 White Sox -0.5 -112
