Detroit Through Indiana
Initially, I intended to cover NBA team win totals for two of every eight teams. Looking at this section of eight I found that there were four teams that couldn’t go without mentioning. Besides, who doesn’t like a good bonus? Looking that my picks above, it’s probably obvious that it’s not the Detroit Pistons or the Indiana Pacers that are the most interesting picks here. Let’s look at Houston and GSW a little closer.
Golden State Warriors (Under 39.5)
Few teams have ever had such a roller coaster in terms of season prospects as the Golden State Warriors have of late. Their hopes to return to title contention in 2021 were dashed with Klay Thompson‘s second season-ending injury in as many years. Sure, they’ve added to their scoring power with the addition of Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins wouldn’t have been expected to take a leadership role with Curry and Thompson the obvious numbers one and two. Wiggins will still undoubtedly benefit from Curry’s leading the team on the floor. Without Thompson’s additions, though, I just don’t see the Warriors season going all that well. Especially in a Western conference where several teams are expected to improve on their previous seasons.
Houston Rockets (Under 34.5)
Listen, the Rockets are a crapshoot. As I write this maybe the 76ers will give up Ben Simmons to get Harden. Maybe there’s no chance the ‘6ers are dumb enough to give up Simmons. Okay, it’s the ‘6ers. They’re definitely that dumb. The point is, there’s no good way to guess what happens in Houston. I’m taking the under because chubby, salty superstars, uncertainty, and lack of continuity rarely lead to more wins. Take it or leave it.
