New York Jets Season Preview & Betting Guide

A new season is on the horizon for the New York Jets, and it comes with plenty of optimism. However, this optimism also brings a handful of questions and concerns for the current squad. After landing Aaron Rodgers last season only to lose him for the year on the opening drive, the heightened expectations have carried over to this season. Can the Jets actually win the AFC East? Are there any potential award winners? What will their win total be? With so much uncertainty surrounding the Jets’ upcoming season, we aim to provide some answers. For anyone using betting apps in New Jersey or New York, we’ve identified some of the best wagers to consider.

In 2023 And Looking Into 2024

The roster has definitely upgraded from last season, and they are getting a (hopefully) full season out of a 4x MVP at quarterback. Last year, the defense did all it could to keep the team competitive, ranking within the top 10 in most major categories. With an already elite defense and improvements to the offensive line through the draft and free agency, the Jets have a legitimate shot to make some noise this season.

Additions and Subtractions

Key Additions: Mike Williams (WR, Chargers), Haason Reddick (DL, Eagles), Tyron Smith (OL, Cowboys), Olu Fashanu (OL, Penn State), Javon Kinlaw (DL, 49ers)
Key Departures: Mekhi Becton (OL), Bryce Huff (LB), John Franklin-Myers (DL), Adrian Amos (S), Mecole Hardman Jr. (WR)

Record: The New York Jets have the 4th easiest strength of schedule in the league, playing in a division that may be open for the taking. The Bills lost key pieces, the Patriots are in a rebuild, and the Dolphins may struggle to run the offense at the rate they did last season. I predict the Jets will go 11-6, going over the 9.5 win line set for them. They are tied with the Bills for division winner at +180 odds, and I believe the Jets will bring home the AFC East title for the first time since 2002.

Award Watchlist

The most obvious potential award winner is Aaron Rodgers for Comeback Player of the Year at +125 odds. If he stays healthy, he has a high chance of winning this award. Rodgers is also a favorite for MVP at +1600 (16/1) odds. Running back Breece Hall has +1500 odds to win Offensive Player of the Year, with a good chance to do so given a high workload and improved roster. Robert Saleh is the 3rd favorite to win Coach of the Year at +1200 odds. If you’re looking for a longshot bet, Sauce Gardner is at +6000 odds to win Defensive Player of the Year.

Result

This year, I see the New York Jets breaking the playoff drought and finally giving their fans a season to celebrate. Barring any major injuries, I think the floor is 9-8, with a ceiling of 13-4. It will be tough to advance in the AFC playoffs, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re playing for a conference title at the end of the season. With a healthy offense and potentially the best defense Aaron Rodgers has ever played with, the sky is the limit for the Jets this season.
