Tonight’s NHL Best Bet slate does not offer much. We only have four NHL games tonight following a 10-game slate last night. Luckily, we found an excellent value play in one of the late games on the slate tonight between the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals rematch.
Let’s get into our NHL Best Bet for April 20th.
NHL Best Bet
Washington Capitals @ Vegas Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights are playing for their season right now. They currently sit four points out of a wild card spot with only five games remaining. The Golden Knights would most likely have to win out and get some help to have a shot at the postseason. If you have followed along on our NHL Best Bets, you would know that I love backing desperate teams as the regular season winds down. That is precisely what we have tonight with the Golden Knights.
Before Monday’s loss to the New Jersey Devils, the Golden Knights have played very well on home ice. They have won six of their last eight games at T-Mobile Arena. Vegas averages 3.3 GF on home ice, and their Power Play is 19.2% at home while only 14.3% on the road.
Logan Thompson, the presumptive starting goalie for the Golden Knights tonight, has only played in 15 career NHL games. At T-Mobile Arena, he posts a 2.42 GAA and a .930SV%; these are both better than his road stats.
I expect the Golden Knights to come out flying as their season depends on it and take care of business at home.
