After a little over a week into the NHL playoffs, it certainly has not disappointed. The games are going back and forth, and six of the eight series are tied through four games. This sets us up for a dramatic and exciting ending of round 1 throughout the rest of this week.
Let’s get into our NHL Best Bet for May 10th.
NHL Best Bet
Tampa Bay Lightning @ Toronto Maple Leafs
This series has been very even through four games. Both teams have gone back and forth in the win column as they alternate wins each game. The Leafs jumped out early and won game 1. Then, the Lightning stole game 2 in Toronto. The Leafs answered in game 3 in Tampa, and the Lightning went on to win game 4 at home. This series has the makings of going seven games.
The Leafs play much better in their home arena than on the road. During the regular season, they had a 31-8-2 record at Scotiabank Arena. Additionally, the Maple Leafs gave up 146 goals on the road this year and only 106 at home. Their power play was much more efficient at home, scoring 30.8 percent of the time and only 23.4 percent away. Lastly, their penalty kill was more effective at home, killing off at 86.8 percent of the time while only 78.1 on the road.
Jack Campbell, the Maple Leafs starting goalie tonight, also performs much better at Scotiabank Arena. He has a 2.22 GAA at home and a 3.14 GAA on the road.
This Leafs team plays much better at home than on the road, and I anticipate that to continue.
I expect the Maple Leafs to come out pushing and try to take over this series with a big win at home.
The Play: Toronto Maple Leafs Money Line (-125)
