The second round of the playoffs is quickly approaching as every round one series is wrapping up. We will be treated to three games 7’s set for tomorrow night and could be adding more for Sunday. But first, we have to get through tonight’s slate that is packed with action.
Let’s take a look at tonight’s NHL Best Bet.
NHL Best Bet
All regular season long, the Rangers were trending as an under team. They won a lot of their games by having quality goaltending and scoring on the chances given to them. The Rangers only averaged 3.0 G/PG and only surrendered 2.44 GAA during the regular season.
This rapidly changed once the postseason hit. Every game between the Rangers and Penguins has gone over the total in this series. Furthermore, the Penguins have hit the over just by themselves when playing at home in playoffs.
Igor Shesterkin, who I believe to be the best goalie in the league and should be the Vezina Trophy winner, does not look like his normal self. His 3.99 GAA and .905 SV% in 5 playoff starts this season are much worse than his regular-season stats. In the two games in Pittsburgh, he was pulled in favor of Alexandar Georgiev after allowing six goals in two periods.
Louis Domingue is in line to make his fifth career playoff start tonight. He is playing relatively decent after Casey DeSmith went down with a core injury and is now out for the remainder of the season.
I expect the goaltending and defense to continue to be lackluster as this series continues and will play the over tonight.
The Play: Over 6.5 (-115)
