With a little over a week remaining in the NHL regular season, nights like tonight with 11 games on the menu are quickly disappearing. Let’s try to take advantage of that with our NHL Best Bets for April 21st.
NHL Best Bets
Buffalo Sabres @ New Jersey Devils
The Devils and Sabres come into this game not having much to play for with their seasons winding down. Both teams will miss the playoffs by a wide margin and have been out of the race since January.
Craig Anderson is confirmed to be Buffalo’s starting goalie tonight. He has started 30 games for the Sabres this year and has a 3.15 GAA and .896 SV%.
Andrew Hammond is in line to start in the crease for the Devils tonight. He played extremely well in his last start only surrendering one goal and making 42 saves. However, he still posts a 3.71 GAA and a .889 SV% in his eight appearances this season.
I expect this game between two bad teams to have a lot of scoring early and often.
The Play: Over 6.5
Toronto Maple Leafs @ Tampa Bay Lightning
As of right now, this game would be a preview of round one of the playoffs. This game has the makings of a very exciting game as both teams are still fighting for seeding in the playoff race.
This is a playoff game to me which should lead to a more defensively played game. I anticipate this game to have a lot of physicality and not many open scoring chances. This should lead to a tight game that doesn’t have much scoring.
I expect this game to stay under the total.
The Play: Under 7
