QB’s With New Homes – Fantasy Value

As the NFL Free agency season continues, we have seen some major moves involving QB’s with new homes. However, as the NFL Draft approaches and the time for Fantasy Football gets closer, how valuable are certain QB’s after their moves?

Let’s get to it!

New Home – Higher Value

For starters, Russell Wilsons move from Seattle to Denver, certainly brings his fantasy value a bit higher. When you look at his weapons, Javonte Williams certainly comes up first. His value goes higher especially when defending and you have to stack the box up. I mean, look at who would be the QB and who his targets are! Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, excellent draft choices this year, even for a bench spot as they will certainly have a lot of involvement as Russell will look to sling it down the field to either of those two most likely.

Speaking of a QB with a new home, let’s talk about Deshaun Watson! Back in January, we all knew the Browns would be one of the busier teams in the NFL Free Agency looking for add ons. What many didn’t expect is that they would release Jarvis Landry. Although, a move that sort of makes sense now when additions like Amari Cooper, once a Cowboy Savior, and nevertheless a talented QB like Deshaun Watson. There are obvious and serious concerns as to what the Browns might’ve gotten themselves into with Watson and the allegations in the air. However, if Watson remains in the NFL and with the Browns? Watson is certainly a QB whose value will increase as he is armed with plenty of targets in Cleveland. Including, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Amari Cooper. Oh and his running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, both of which will also be a nightmare for some defenses.

There are a couple of others whose value could be expected to increase. Those are people like Marcus Mariota who was moved to Atlanta. As well as, Matt Ryan to the Colts.

New Home – Lower Value

The first person that comes to mind, is none other than Tyrod Taylor.

Taylor‘s career in the NFL has been a tough one. From being a starting QB to now being a backup QB in the New York Giants organization. Unfortunately, Taylor is also 33 which puts him a bit past his prime years. Additionally, his health hasn’t helped much in making him a passable starter over the past five years if you think about it. So when I see this deal with the New York Giants, a 2-yr deal/$11 Million and $8 Million of that guaranteed? The move is certainly a questionable one but nonetheless, I do not expect to see Tyord Taylor taking over for Daniel Jones anytime soon.

As we continue to discuss QB’s With New Homes, I genuinely am worried for Drew Lock.

As far as I can think of it, Drew Lock’s career has been in question since the days that Teddy Bridgewater joined the Denver Broncos. Now, this looks to continue after he moved to Seattle as part of the deal for Russell Wilson to Denver. Lock’s value decreases in Seattle. Reason being is simple, Lock cracks under pressure, especially in the pocket.

If Pete Carroll can help Drew Lock develop, maybe even give him some solid runners from the draft this year? Then, Drew Lock might be in a safe position for a strong 2023-2024 season. Otherwise, his value will just continue to depreciate and fast.
