RB Fantasy Football: DAWGS Or FRAUDS Week 5

Week 5 has just finished, and we will look back at the best and worst RB Fantasy Football performances of the week. Take note that we are using Sleeper’s PPR scoring system for this analysis.

Golden DAWG: Tevin Coleman 21.70 FP

8 Carries, 23 Rushing Yards, 1 Rushing TD, 3 Receptions, 44 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD (Projected: 0 FP)

Tevin Coleman looked good coming up from the practice squad

Tevin Coleman came up with an unexpected performance in the 49ers’ win over the Panthers in Week 5. After just seeing one snap the previous week, Coleman balled out with 67 total yards and two TDs. Currently, he was reverted back to the practice squad, so we will have to wait and see what is in store for him.

Silver DAWG: Leonard Fournette 35.90 FP

14 Carries, 56 Rushing Yards, 1 Rushing TDs, 10 Receptions, 83 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD (Projected: 17.16 FP)

Leonard Fournette dominated the Falcons in Week 5

Leonard Fournette was the favorite recipient of Tom Brady in the Tampa Bay win over the Falcons. The TB RB did it from the receiving and the rushing game. He ran for 56 yards and a TD and caught 10 balls for 83 yards and a TD. His pass-catching ability makes him an elite RB to have in fantasy.

Bronze DAWG: Austin Ekeler 35.90 FP

16 Carries, 173 Rushing Yards, 1 Rushing TD, 4 Receptions, 26 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD (Projected: 17.19 FP)

Austin Ekeler was unstoppable on the ground against the Browns

Austin Ekeler now has back-to-back dominant games after Week 5 in the NFL. He rushed for 173 yards and a TD and even caught four balls for 26 yards and a TD. Ekeler looks better than ever, and his performance is making the Chargers look better. He will have a challenge facing the tough Broncos’ defense in Week 6.

Golden FRAUD: Chase Edmonds 0.1 FP

1 Carry, 1 Rushing Yard (Projected: 9.91 FP)

Chase Edmonds is slowly disappearing in the Dolphins’ RB room

Chase Edmonds disappeared in the Dolphins’ loss to the Jets. He only had a carry for a yard and didn’t catch his two targets. The Dolphins prioritized Raheem Mostert and Myles Gaskin in the rushing and snap game. With everything happening, it looks like you can drop Edmonds if you still have him on your fantasy team.

Silver FRAUD: AJ Dillon 3.40 FP

6 Carries, 34 Rushing Yards (Projected: 12.33 FP)

AJ Dillon wasn’t focused much on the Packers’ loss

AJ Dillon had a very limited game against the Giants in London. He had a season-low six carries for 34 yards and wasn’t targeted in the passing game. Aaron Jones had more snaps and opportunities than him. After a strong Week 1 showing, it’s very difficult to gauge Dillon’s performance as an RB in fantasy.

Bronze FRAUD: Jamaal Williams 5.60 FP

15 Carries, 56 Rushing Yards (Projected: 14.17 FP)

Jamaal Williams was frustrated against the Patriots’ defense

The Detroit Lions’ offense was shut-out against the Patriots in Week 5. Jamaal Williams struggled with only 56 rushing yards in 15 attempts. With a bye in Week 6 and D’Andre Swift potentially returning, it might be difficult for Jamaal to maintain his status as a reliable RB in fantasy.
