Super Bowl Prop Bets to Consider

The Super Bowl will take place this Sunday with the Chiefs hoping to repeat against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa Bay. Many fans will watch the game but many fans will bet on anything. Literally, anything! With the national anthem, the coin toss, the Gatorade color for the winning team, who the Super Bowl MVP will thank first, all bets are possible. While some bets are just there for the bettor’s sake, there are viable bets to take for the Super Bowl. Some are built to win with strategy while others are here to win with odds.

Over Clyde Edwards-Helaire 30.5 Rushing Yards

This is a low total which is accounting for two things to occur in this game. The first thing that makes anyone inclined to bet the Under here is the unpredictability of the Chiefs backfield. After all, anyone can have a big game on the ground. The second thing to consider is if this game becomes a shootout. How often the Chiefs will run the ball (not often one would think)?

It is advisory to bet the Over on this low total considering Edwards-Helaire should be the lead back in the Super Bowl. Aside from expecting Edwards-Helaire to receive the majority of carries, we can expect him to carry the Chiefs ground game once they establish a lead (at any point in the game). The workload will run up his stats and give him a good game. Bet the Over on a total that only requires one decent run.

Under Patrick Mahomes 21.5 Rushing Yards

This total came as a surprise for many reasons. 21.5 rushing yards are a lot to cover for any quarterback, even in today’s game with quarterbacks often running. It’s also hard to see why this total is at 21.5 when we saw Patrick Mahomes get hurt in the Divisional Round with not just a turf toe, but a head/neck injury from a quarterback run. In the Super Bowl, we can expect Mahomes to do whatever it takes to win. However, we should also expect him to stay behind the line of scrimmage this game. With this in mind, bet the Under on Mahomes rushing for 21.5 yards.

Over Scottie Miller 20.5 Receiving Yards

Scottie Miller has not only emerged as the big-play receiver for the offense but arguably the number two target for Brady. Miller is a speed receiver that if given the right matchup, can burn any defense for a big play. If the Chiefs allow him to be lined up in one-on-one coverage, we can expect Tom Brady to attack the defense with Miller finding multiple big plays in this game. Only needing 21 receiving yards to cover, this is a golden opportunity to bet the Over.

Under Chris Godwin 73.5 Receiving Yards

Chris Godwin was regarded as the number two receiver entering this season. The talent is unquestioned and Godwin is poised for a big game at some point. With the Chiefs lacking depth at corner and likely focusing on the other weapons that the Bucs possess, one would think that Godwin should have a great game.

That being said, this is a line that is designed for one that hasn’t watched the Bucs offense intensely. Even for the Super Bowl, 73.5 receiving yards are a lot to cover for any receiver. In addition, Godwin has disappeared this postseason and is not a regular part of the passing game. Expect Godwin to fall Under the receiving yard total as someone who won’t get targeted often in this game.

Parlay: Over Tom Brady .5 Rushing Yards & Tom Brady Anytime Touchdown (+678)

This prop bet is playing off a likely theoretical. Granted, Tom Brady isn’t known for running and one yard feels like 50 for him. Granted, Tom Brady is unlikely to score a rushing touchdown (or a Philly Special somehow). However, this parlay gives us good odds and allows us to look at a realistic scenario.

If Tom Brady runs for one rushing yard, and that’s all he needs, it will likely come from a QB sneak. Moreover, if the Bucs are on the goal line, Brady is incredibly likely to dive into the end zone for a one-yard touchdown. The Bucs have plenty of options at the goal line and don’t need the QB Sneak. However, it’s very likely that Brady would try to earn the touchdown himself. This parlay will force us to sweat out the game, hoping the Bucs get to the goal line and call the QB sneak. With the odds given, this is an advisable parlay to take.

Parlay: Chiefs (-3) & Chiefs Over 29.5 points

Let’s be honest, if the Chiefs are winning this game, they are scoring more than 30 points in this game. This parlay is playing off the confidence that the Chiefs will win and run up the score. The Chiefs have scored 30 points in all but one playoff game since Mahomes has become the starter (the only time was the Divisional Round game which Mahomes had to exit with the injury against the Browns). The Chiefs have been regarded as the favorite to win this game and it’s hard to see them losing. It would be advisable to bet on the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl and add a prop like the total point for better odds.
