Week 1 has just finished and we will look back at the best and worst TE Fantasy Football performances of the week. Take note that we are using Sleeper’s PPR scoring system for this analysis.
Golden DAWG: O.J. Howard 17.8 FP
2 Receptions, 38 Receiving Yards, 2 Receiving TDs (Projected 2.31 FP)
O.J. Howard was a late addition to the Houston Texans roster, and he delivered. He made his catches count, with both receptions leading to TDs in a game that ended in a 20-20 tie. He is an interesting player to keep a note of in case his snaps increase.
Silver DAWG: Taysom Hill 15.3 FP
81 Rushing Yards, 1 Rushing TD, 1 Reception, 2 Receiving Yards (Projected 4.52 FP)
Taysom Hill showed why he is one of the best gadget players in the league. He played as TE, WR, and QB. He took control with a 57-yard rush on the second drive and finished it off with an 11-yard TD. His versatility will keep him relevant in TE fantasy football.
Bronze DAWG: Colby Parkinson 12.3 FP
2 Receptions, 43 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD (Projected 0.48 FP)
Colby Parkinson managed only 49 receiving yards in two seasons. He almost reached that number when he gained 43 receiving yards against the Seahawks this week. Parkinson also scored his first career TD.
Golden FRAUD: Dawson Knox 1.5 FP
1 Reception, 5 Yards (Projected 10.41 FP)
Dawson Knox didn’t have much to show for in the season opener. He only had one catch for five yards. Josh Allen spread the ball around and focused primarily on his receivers. This left Dawson as the odd man out. His projections are still high for the upcoming weeks so maybe he’ll be more of a focus on the offense.
Silver FRAUD: Austin Hooper 1.6 FP
1 Reception, 6 Receiving Yards (Projected 9.6 FP)
There was a buzz during the preseason that Austin Hooper and Ryan Tannehill were establishing a connection. However, this didn’t show in Week 1. Austin only managed a reception for just six yards. His fellow TE, Geoff Swaim, had more snaps than him and had three receptions for 19 yards.
Bronze FRAUD: Kyle Pitts 3.9 FP
2 Receptions, 19 Receiving Yards (Projected 12.65 FP)
Kyle Pitts had a rough start to his season where he only caught two of his seven targets. Those two targets all came in the first half. His seven targets led the team so there is hope he and Marcus Mariota can gain chemistry and fulfill the high expectations he faces.
