Fantasy Football

Thanksgiving Football Starts and Sits

Thanksgiving football… what more could you possibly ask for? Maybe a perfectly set fantasy lineup. Take what you want from this, but be careful. This week could potentially make or break your playoff hopes.

Start Em’

QB: Deshaun Watson

Deshaun Watson is coming off one of his better performances of the year against Bill Belichick and the Pats. He is pretty much carrying the Texans on his back. He should have no problem with the Lions, who are bad at getting to the quarterback. They are near the bottom of the league in sacks and missed tackles. Watson is one of the best in the league when it comes to making plays inside the pocket so he should have his way on Turkey day.

RB: Antonio Gibson

Gibson has been a great fantasy option all year and has been involved in both the running and passing game for the Washington football team. In week 7, he rushed for 128 yards against the Cowboys. He had 20 carries that game, the most he’s gotten all year. He should be seeing similar touches this week. The Cowboys have been getting run on all year and I don’t think that’s going to change this week.

WR: Terry McLaurin

Terry Mclaurin is currently questionable for Thursday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. If he is healthy, he is someone you want to start. He is a must start every week at this point and especially against the Cowboys defense, which has been terrible against the passing game as well. Alex Smith has been playing fairly well and just threw for 390-yards against the Lions, so I believe he can get it done. It would be a real feel good story to see Smith return from an injury so gruesome and beat America’s team on the biggest football day of the year.

TE: TJ Hockenson

With Kenny Golladay listed as questionable, the door is wide open for Hockeson to continue on with his successful sophomore season. He has 40 receptions on the year and five touchdowns. With D’Andre Swift also listed as questionable, the Lions will most likely have to win through the air. Adrian Peterson can only run for so many yards in a lifetime. I don’t think he will take away much from TJ’s redzone targets.

Sit Em’

QB: Andy Dalton

Although Dalton is coming off a three-touchdown game and got the Cowboys a big win against the Vikings, I would stay away from Dalton this week. He struggled against the Washington football team the last time he faced them before exiting the game early. Chase Young is going to be pressuring him all day and could scare him into an interception or two.  Dalton has never been a primetime guy, in my opinion, so let’s see if he can prove me wrong.

RB: Duke Johnson

With David Johnson sidelined you may consider taking a shot with Duke Johnson this week. However, there are some better options to choose from. Although Detroit has allowed the most fantasy points to running backs all year, Johnson still seems like a low-end running back. He isn’t used to being the first string running back and Deshaun likes to throw the ball down field. When David Johnson was healthy he wasn’t doing anything special either, so I don’t see a monster rushing performance in Duke’s future. I’d consider him a flex option.

WR: Amari Cooper

Amari Cooper is one of the most frustrating receivers to deal with in fantasy. I have to deal with this decision every week. He has games where he is unstoppable and games where you want to cut him from your roster and never see him again. For this game I am going to sit him. There are too many playmakers on this Cowboys offense including Zeke, Ceedee Lamb, and lets not forget Michael Gallup, who wants the ball just as badly as Cooper. Zeke has been pretty disappointing this year and is probably slobbering all over himself thinking about that turkey leg. I think that Dallas will look to feed Elliot early and often.

TE: Dalton Shultz

If it weren’t for a couple of touchdowns, Shultz would be a waiver wire add most weeks. He only has three touchdowns on the year and two of them came from Dak. Like Amari, Schultz is competing with his teammates for touches. He only had two catches for 22-yards last time around against the Football team, so I am staying away from him this week.
