Top 24 Wide Receivers

michael thomas and julio jones will both be top 24 wide receivers

This week I’m going to go over my top players at all positions for everyone! We’ve covered running backs already, now let’s take a look at the top 24 wide receivers! These rankings are based on PPR scoring.

Tier 1: Elite of the Elite
michael thomas
  1. Michael Thomas: Perhaps the safest player in fantasy football this year. A small chance he repeats as the WR1, but almost no chance he hurts you any given week as he will finish among the top 24 wide receivers more often than not.
  2. Davante Adams: Surprisingly, Adams has more 997 yard seasons, two, than he does 1,000+ yard seasons, one. The score will be evened after this year. Strong bet to lead the league in targets and should see positive touchdown regression.
  3. Julio Jones: Julio posted his lowest yardage total since 2013 last season, finishing the season with “only” 1,394 yards. You know what you’re getting with him.
Tier 2: Studly Studs
tyreek hill will be a top 24 wide receiver
  1. Tyreek Hill: He’s a little (okay, very) boom or bust, but man, the boom weeks are fun. Currently nursing a hamstring injury, keep your eye on that. Hamstrings are a red flag for speedy receivers.
  2. Kenny Golladay: Established himself as an elite red-zone target in 2019, scoring 11 touchdowns without Matthew Stafford for half of the season. Stafford is back, making him a sneaky bet to lead the league in TD receptions.
  3. Chris Godwin: Is Tom Brady an upgrade over Jameis Winston, fantasy-wise? I’m not sure that he is. Godwin is still a safe bet towards the end of the second round.
  4. DeAndre Hopkins: Targets will probably be lower than usual, but he’s still DeAndre Hopkins. Receivers that change teams tend to have a rough first season but he will find a way to produce.
  5. D.J. Moore: Broke out in 2019 with absolutely horrendous QB play, now gets a QB that meshes perfectly with his skill set in Teddy Bridgewater. Primed to take a huge step forward.

Tier 3: Studs with Question Marks
odell beckham
  1. Odell Beckham Jr: Do you believe he played last year hobbled? I do, he’s way better than what he showed last year. If Baker Mayfield can improve even a little bit we’ll see the old Odell in 2020.
  2. Adam Thielen: Another receiver who was hurt in 2019, another chance for a big bounce back. The Vikings will have to pass more this season and he should lead them in targets by a landslide.
  3. Allen Robinson: I love Allen Robinson, I don’t love his quarterback situation. He’s been overcoming crappy QB play his whole career though so I’m not terribly concerned.
  4. Mike Evans: The same question we asked in the Godwin section applies here. Evans will be Brady’s deep threat and has a very high ceiling. You just might not like how he gets there sometimes.
  5. JuJu Smith-Schuster: Moving back to the slot should allow JuJu to dominate. He is a bargain at his current draft spot. Big Ben’s elbow is concerning though.
  6. A.J. Brown: Brown was spectacular as a rookie, no doubt about. The run after catch ability is for real, the concern here is volume. If he could get 140 targets he could push for the overall WR1. Sadly that probably won’t happen and he’ll be looking at about 100 targets.
Tier 4: Might Not Always Be Pretty But Still Good Options
robert woods could be a top 24 wide receiver
  1. Robert Woods: He got off to a slow start last year but crushed it down the stretch, while only scoring two touchdowns. That’s likely to change.
  2. Amari Cooper: There will be weeks when Amari Cooper totally ranks your lineup and you swear you’ll never draft him again. The opposite will also happen. It’s just the nature of Amari Cooper.
  3. DJ Chark: Could he be the next garbage time hero? I think yes. Athletic freak on a bad team with a fearless QB? Sign me up for that roller coaster.
  4. Courtland Sutton: Sutton is a stud. I’m not sure his QB is though. That coupled with the team adding a ton of weapons could lead to Sutton being a little boom or bust.
  5. Tyler Lockett: Unreal chemistry with one of the best QBs in the league. I love him at his current draft position. The Seahawks insistence on being run-heavy is obnoxious though.
  6. Cooper Kupp: Kupp is a bit of an enigma. If you told me he would be in the slot all the time, he would be much higher. With the Rams supposedly moving to a two TE offense, I’m out on Kupp at his ADP. He is plain old bad as an outside receiver. I’m willing to be wrong about this one.
Tier 5: WR2s with Upside
calvin ridley could be a top 24 wide receiver
  1. Calvin Ridley: Could end up way higher than I have him ranked. The Falcons have a lot of available targets and he was on the verge of stardom before his season was cut short by injury in 2019.
  2. Terry McLaurin: Dwayne Haskins improved toward the end of last season. If that continues the sky is the limit for McLaurin coming off an incredible rookie year.
  3. Marquise Brown: Flashed as a rookie on a low volume offense with a screw in his foot. The screw is gone, but he’s on the same offense. Hollywood could go crazy if the Ravens pass more.
  4. Michael Gallup: I believe he has just as good of a chance at leading the Cowboys in targets as Amari Cooper does. Strong chance of outperforming his draft spot.
