Bye-pocalypse of Week 7 is over and it’s on to Week 8, you know what that means? That’s right Belly Up is here to supply you with the waiver wire for Week 8. This week should be interesting with the trade deadline around the corner and an infamous name on the market. We could see some teams shake up their rosters and this could lead to guys who were on the waiver wire becoming appealing options. This week we put together some guys that are available in ESPN and Yahoo leagues that we think can be excellent spot starts and or yearly flexes. Hope you guys enjoy our Week 8 waiver wire.
Quarterbacks
Deshaun Watson, Houston Texans (16.1%-ESPN, 18%-Yahoo)
This is the biggest “if” of the entire season, but if Watson sees the field this year you’ll have the chance to add a QB1 midseason for nothing. As of now, there is no deal just a lot of chatter between the Texans and other teams. If you see him out there swoop him up, the worst that can happen is you have to drop him. Flipside if he plays, he could be one of the best players for the next 10 games, seems like a good trade-off to me.
Carson Wentz, Indianapolis Colts (22.1%-ESPN, 37%-Yahoo)
Plays like this are why you went and got Carson Wentz. #Colts haven’t had a QB with this type of dual threat since 2018. pic.twitter.com/TQM5n6RvOy

Wentz is coming off an awesome showing in a rainstorm against a solid 49ers defense. Wentz has been avoiding the turnovers this year, with 11 TDs to 1 Int. His next three weeks look like a complete opposite of a murders row of secondaries, with the Titans, Jets, and Jaguars. Wentz looks like he could be a lock to produce at a high level. If you are looking for a good QB2 or just wanting a streamer for a bye week look no further than Wentz.
Running Back
Kenneth Gainwell, Philadelphia Eagles (26.%-ESPN, 22%-Yahoo)

Miles Sanders is unlikely for the upcoming Week 8 game against the Lions. There are two reasons to believe Gainwell is a good spot to start this week. First off he’ll take on an increased role and secondly he’ll play one of the worst teams against the run. Gainwell is coming off a game that he was targeted 8 times, caught 4 balls for 41 yards and a TD while picking up 20 yards rushing. This is a game that should be more back and forth and will hopefully include Gainwell heavily. Gainwell depending on the Sanders injury could be a spot start or a three-week solution.
Brandon Bolden, New England Patriots (5.5%-ESPN, 6%-Yahoo)
Bolden is trying to take the “James White role” and so far has excelled getting targeted on average four times a game since White went down. Bolden had a game in Week 7 against the Jets, taking 7 targets and turning it into 6 receptions, 79 yards, and a TD. Damien Harris is entrenched in the first and second down role, we’ve Bolden on the field for up to 46 percent of the offensive snaps. This will lead to continuous opportunities, and with tight matchups against the Chargers, Panthers, and Browns coming up. Bolden might see some more scoring opportunities in the coming weeks. Look for him to be an option at your flex spot going forward.
Wide Receivers
Kendrick Bourne, New England Patriots (3.1%-ESPN, 6%-Yahoo)
Bourne is becoming an option in New England with Mac Jones targeting him four times per game, and finding success with him deep. He has put up 27.3 (standard) fantasy points in the last two weeks and will look to build off the success. Bourne has averaged 15.9 yards/reception and is looking like Jones’s go-to guy when he needs to make a play. Coincidentally that was his role in San Francisco, this time though he seems to be getting consistent targets. I look for him to be a solid flex option for your lineup going forward.
Kalif Raymond, Detroit Lions (5.9%-ESPN, 3%-Yahoo)
With Quintez Cephus going down with a broken collarbone on Sunday, Raymond is going to be a huge recipient of targets for the rest of the season. Raymond already had 15 targets in the past two games and now should be expecting to be getting 4-6 targets a game going forward. With the Lions most likely playing from behind in their games, they’ll need someone to step up as a receiver. Raymond has been a bright spot in a lame receiving corps. Grab him as a spot start until he shows he can be consistent.
Tight Ends
Mo Alie-Cox, Indianapolis Colts (13.7%-ESPN, Yahoo-17%)
Here’s something for you, Allie-Cox has 4 TDs in his last four games. He was targeted 15 times in the past four games. This makes him a very TD-dependent option, but with the tight end position being the usual nightmare. Cox is someone you can spot start here and there, maybe flex him on a matchup to matchup basis. There are worse options than a guy who’s been getting TDs in the past four games.
C.J. Uzomah, Cincinnati Bengals (10.1%-ESPN, Yahoo-19%)

Uzomah has low key had an outstanding past four weeks with the Bengals, scoring 5 TDs. With Week 7 in the books, Uzomah has now recorded two games with 2 TDs and has shown up for the Bengals when they’ve needed him. One thing that should stand out to fantasy managers is he’s been getting on average 80 percent of snaps in the past four games and with that has come more opportunities. The Bengals seem to have an issue with not having enough passes to go around, but Uzomah has made the most of his receptions as he’s averaged 8.7 yards after the catch. Uzomah won’t be your week-to-week option, but he’ll provide some hope for bye weeks and spot starts.
